Overview

The Graduate Nurse practices as a nurse under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Graduate Nurse assists the Registered Nurse in the collection and assessment of data to identify alterations in the patients health, assess the patients human response to actual and potential health problems, implement nursing interventions, and determine the effectiveness of nursing interventions by evaluating anticipated patient outcomes. The Graduate Nurse provides nursing support to achieve the organizations mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:The Graduate Nurse can practice nursing under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse if they meet the following qualifications and can provide documentation.: Has been no more than three months since graduation from an approved program  Has been authorized by the Board to practice as a graduate nurse and has received a Graduate Nurse letter Has been authorized to test by the examination vendorAny applicant who fails to appear for the first examination for which they have been made eligible shall not practice nursing until such time as the applicant passes the NCLEX examination. Only RN applicants by examination who have been approved by the board may use the term Graduate Nurse or the abbreviation G.N. GN and GPN statuses expire at the date listed on the Graduate Nurse letter or when the applicant takes the examination, whichever comes first.
