About the Role

We’re looking for an API Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team and contribute to the quality of a modern integration platform. The platform enables secure, reliable, and scalable data exchange between connected systems through a robust API ecosystem, supporting seamless integrations and business-critical workflows.

This role is ideal for a highly motivated and detail-oriented quality professional with strong experience in API testing. The primary focus will be ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the platform, while also contributing to seamless integrations, exceptional user experiences, and collaborating with a cross-functional team to maintain high-quality standards across the API ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

API Testing Strategy & Planning:

Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for RESTful APIs.

Define and implement API testing strategies, including functional, performance, security, and load testing.

Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business analysts to understand API requirements and specifications.

Estimate testing effort and timelines.

API Testing Execution:

Perform manual and automated testing of APIs using tools like Postman and its advanced features or similar.

Validate API responses, data formats (JSON, XML), status codes, and error handling.

Conduct performance testing to identify bottlenecks and ensure scalability.

Execute security testing to identify vulnerabilities and ensure data protection.

Perform regression testing to identify and prevent regressions.

Develop and maintain automated test scripts using programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and testing frameworks.

Create and maintain test data.

Defect Management & Reporting:

Identify, document, and track defects using bug-tracking systems (e.g., Jira).

Analyze test results and provide detailed reports on API quality and performance.

Collaborate with developers to resolve defects and ensure timely fixes.

Provide clear and concise communication regarding testing results.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay up to date with the latest API testing tools and techniques.

Contribute to the improvement of API testing processes and methodologies.

Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on API design and implementation.

Assist in the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines related to API testing.

Collaboration:

Work closely with development, product, and delivery teams.

Participate in agile development processes and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of API quality and testing status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in manual functional, integration, and API testing.
  • Proven experience in API testing, including functional, performance, and security testing.
  • Proficiency in using API testing tools (e.g., Postman).
  • Strong understanding of API protocols (REST, SOAP).
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools within Postman.
  • Programming skills in at least one scripting language (e.g., JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Bitbucket).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • English Proficiency: B2+
