Identify, qualify, test, and validate alternate or replacement electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and Product Engineering, to resolve component shortage issues and component replacements for specific products. Monitor, identify, and resolve component-related issues, and support Design Engineering teams in identifying appropriate electrical and electromechanical components. Conduct alternate component searches, prepare detailed component comparison reports, and make informed decisions based on component attributes. Provide solutions for high-complexity component shortage issues. Support all aspects of component engineering, including design support, component selection, technical analysis, reliability assessment, and component testing in the lab. Engage with OEM and COTS suppliers for sourcing, alternate part identification, part and supplier qualification, and component cost evaluation. Liaise with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to resolve component-related problem reports and support effective implementation of solutions. Own and influence end-to-end component evaluations and guide the team in resolving component specification-related issues. Mentor, guide, and review deliverables of Sr. Engineers and below engineers ensuring high quality and consistency Own and develop BKMs (Best Known Methods), SOP, and guidelines for the team Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within PLM, library, and engineering workflows Strong understanding of end-to-end parameters for electrical and electromechanical components, including passive components, discrete components, integrated circuits, connectors, cables, fuses, relays, switches, RF generators, sensors, adapters/filters, cable assemblies, and other PCBA components. Ability to review and interpret component datasheets and evaluate components for various product applications. Ability to manage technical uncertainty during the testing of alternate or replacement components. Knowledge of electrical component parameters and their impact on product performance. Expert level knowledge of Engineering change management, Obsolescence management & problem-solving skills Knowledge of BOM management tools such as Silicon Expert and IHS. Must have worked on electrical engineering CAD tools like E3 ZUKEN or equivalent CAD packages for circuit design Experience with PLM, library management, and familiar with industry standards such as RoHS, REACH, UL, CE, IEC, EN and SEMI. Experience: 8-10 years of experience in electrical and/or electromechanical component engineering, including alternate part qualification, evaluation, schematic and library management in E3 ZUKEN. Familiarity with technical documentation standards. Familiar with design for serviceability, manufacturability, reliability. Experience in Root cause analysis with problem-solving techniques such as 5-why, 8D, fishbones, etc. Excellent oral and written communication skills including technical presentations. Experience in semiconductor industry or related (industrial, automotive, military).
