Job Description
The Construction Manager is a critical member of Vuori's retail expansion across China, leading the end-to-end delivery of new store developments, remodels, and special projects from pre-construction through to store turnover. This role drives execution across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in full alignment with Vuori's premium brand, design, and operational standards.
As the key liaison between internal teams and external partners—including landlords, architects, and contractors—the Construction Manager ensures seamless coordination and a smooth transition from construction to store opening. This role reports directly to the General Manager, China, with a dotted line to the Global Construction Director. It requires a deep understanding of Vuori's elevated quality and craftsmanship standards to deliver retail environments that authentically reflect the brand's identity
What you'll get to do:
Project Leadership
- Lead full-lifecycle project management for multiple concurrent retail projects (up to 15) across Greater China and phases of development.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, critical path milestones, and phasing plans that balance efficient execution with minimal disruption to store operations and customer experience.
- Proactively identify project risks and drive timely resolution to maintain store opening timelines.
- Partner with the Design team to review design sets, ensuring accurate scope and detailed documentation, while identifying long-lead materials and potential project risks early in the process.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner cross-functionally with Real Estate, Store Design, Retail Operations, and leadership to define project milestones and ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between store teams, HQ stakeholders, and contractors/vendors to facilitate seamless communication and efficient execution of project goals.
- Lead weekly OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) calls to review project status with all stakeholders.
Budget & Financial Management
- Ensure project deliver within set budgets.
- Review and approve GC Payment Applications, supplier invoices, and validate potential Change Orders with approval recommendations.
Quality & Vendor Management
- Oversee general contractors and vendors to ensure adherence to Vuori's quality standards, project schedules, and FF&E delivery requirements.
- Review and approve project Shop Drawings and Submittals in collaboration with the Design team.
- Hold contractors and vendors accountable to a premium standard of quality, safety, and professionalism, ensuring all work meets brand and operational expectations.
Site Oversight & Closeout
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, validate construction quality, and ensure readiness for turnover to Retail Operations.
- Generate contractor punch lists and monitor their timely completion.
- Manage project closeout, including punch lists, warranties, as-built documentation, lien waivers, and tenant improvement submissions.
Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate completed projects to identify efficiencies, best practices, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain comprehensive project files for all correspondence, transmittals, and documentation.
- Ensure that all warranty items are properly tracked, executed, and closed out in accordance with contractual obligations.
Qualifications
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution and/or equivalent years of experience preferred.
- 10+ years of construction or general contracting experience, including 3+ years in a project management capacity within specialty or luxury retail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, documentation, scheduling, and cost management.
- Proven ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
