1. Sales Exposure & Territory Support
- Gain practical exposure to direct sales activities within a healthcare environment.
- Support the sales representative with customer engagement, follow‑ups, and basic sales administration.
- Attend customer visits to observe relationship‑building, needs assessment, and product positioning.
- Assist with product demonstrations under supervision.
- Learn how sales targets are planned, tracked, and achieved in a defined territory.
Development Outcome:
Understanding of field sales execution, customer engagement, and territorial coverage in the medical diagnostics sector.
2. Customer Training & Clinical Support
- Assist with in‑service customer training under guidance, including:
- Correct use and handling of HemoCue analyzers
- Sampling techniques
- Routine cleaning and upkeep
- Correct handling of consumables
- Participate in ward‑to‑ward rounds to observe how analyzers are used in clinical settings.
- Support compliance with correct usage and care of HemoCue equipment.
Development Outcome:
Exposure to customer education, clinical environments, and product application in healthcare workflows.
3. Analyzer & Service Coordination
- Support the process of collecting faulty analyzers from customer sites after appropriate authorization.
- Assist with delivering repaired analyzers back to customers.
- Help manage the issuing and return of loan analyzers while customer units are under repair.
- Learn the end‑to‑end service process from fault reporting to resolution.
Development Outcome:
Understanding of service logistics, analyzer lifecycle management, and customer service coordination.
4. SLA Awareness & Professional Standards
- Develop working knowledge of HemoCue Service Level Agreements and warranty principles.
- Support SLA‑aligned activities such as scheduled visits, training records, and analyzer tracking.
- Observe professional standards relating to customer communication, accountability, and compliance.
- Escalate technical or service issues to senior team members when required.
Development Outcome:
Insight into regulated service environments and the importance of service excellence in healthcare.
5. Administrative Support & Professional Development
- Assist with preparation of visit plans, basic reporting, and documentation.
- Participate in internal training sessions to build product, sales, and service knowledge.
- Perform additional reasonable tasks related to sales and territory support as part of the learning programme.
- Receive mentoring and on‑the‑job coaching throughout the internship period.
Development Outcome:
Strong professional foundation, workplace discipline, and exposure to cross‑functional collaboration.
Customer & Territory Coverage
The intern will support customers across the Western Cape.
Specific hospitals or facilities will not be permanently assigned, as coverage may vary based on:
- Business priorities
- Customer needs
- Operational and service requirements
This flexible model ensures broad exposure to both public and private healthcare institutions within the territory.
