Description

ASE is looking for a Linux System Administration Support professional to work in Honolulu, HI. This role is critical to providing day-to-day administration and operational support. The Linux System Administrator will install, configure, operate, maintain, secure, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux-based servers and applications while initiating corrective actions and accurately reporting system status. This position works closely with information owners, HQ USINDOPACOM Directorates, Systems, Network, and Cybersecurity teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and secure operation of mission-critical information systems in accordance with established standards and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, patch, secure, and troubleshoot Linux/UNIX systems and applications.
  • Support Red Hat Enterprise Linux, BIND DNS, DNSSEC, ACAS, Splunk, Syslog, Apache, Ansible, YUM, SMTP relay, and ServiceNow.
  • Maintain STIG, DoD PKI, ESS, and cybersecurity compliance across assigned systems.
  • Review system logs, ACAS scans, vulnerabilities, and ServiceNow tickets daily and resolve identified issues.
  • Develop scripts, automation, Kickstart deployment files, and ServiceNow workflows.
  • Perform system backups, restorations, continuity testing, and documentation updates.
  • Support command exercises, inspections, maintenance activities, and scheduled or unscheduled outages.
  • Participate in technical meetings and provide status updates, recommendations, and monthly reporting.
  • Provide occasional after-hours and weekend support as mission requirements dictate.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Required.
  • Must meet the Intermediate Proficiency Level requirements established under DoD 8140.03-M.
  • Must possess a current Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification, version 6 or later, in good standing
  • Minimum of three years of experience managing, supporting, patching, backing up, and restoring Linux/UNIX systems and applications within a Department of Defense environment.
  • Experience securing systems and applications in accordance with federal and DoD regulations, directives, policies, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Experience managing BIND DNS, DNS zones, and Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC).
  • Experience administering Linux/UNIX operating systems within a virtual machine operating environment, such as VMware.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and managing the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) within a DoD environment.
  • Experience managing SMTP relays.
  • Experience managing and securing Apache web servers.
  • Experience managing YUM repositories and servers.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible.
  • Experience managing, supporting, and using Splunk and Syslog servers.
  • Experience supporting Endpoint Security Solutions agents on Linux/UNIX systems.
