Talent Acquisition Specialist, Development and Alumni Relations

The Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) is responsible for managing and coordinating the pre-employment processes for new hires, ensuring a smooth and efficient pre-onboarding experience. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will conduct background checks, verify references, coordinate pre-employment assessments, and ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations. Additionally, the Specialist will assist in reviewing applications, conducting initial screenings and assessing candidates’ qualifications.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is a critical member of the Talent Acquisition team, to support the university's HR mission of attracting, developing, retaining, and engaging a high-performing workforce in support of excellence in the university's mission, while promoting diversity, equity, civility, and respect.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and administrative recruitment support in a high-volume, fast-paced recruiting environment.
  • Aid with scheduling interviews, administering skills-based assessments, managing reference check, process, initiating background checks, creating electronic pre-hire files, sending pre-onboarding information and managing ad hoc checks as necessary for pre-employment.
  • Screen employment applications, conduct employment screens/interviews, and initiates employment verification and background checks.
  • Prepare job postings and assign them to recruiters as a back-up for the Talent Acquisition Coordinator.
  • Provide full-cycle, end-to-end recruitment, as needed, for a limited number of entry-mid level or casual positions within assigned departments.
  • Meet goals and adhere to the Service Level Agreements developed by leadership.
  • Represent the university at job fairs, career days, campus visitations, and community outreach activities and other sourcing activities.
  • May assist university employees seeking positions as a result of reduction in force.
  • Work on special employment projects as assigned or as part of committee work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will:

  • Attend job fairs and development conferences to attract future talent.
  • Creatively design marketing materials for candidates, job fairs, new hires, DAR Careers website, LinkedIn posts, and MailChimp email marketing, and partner with DAR Communications to ensure designs meet DAR and JHU guidelines.
  • Maintain the DAR Careers website with up-to-date information on staff, initiatives, news, benefits, marketing, staff spotlights, current openings, and other information for prospective candidates and the community.
  • Coordinate complex candidate interview schedules, travel, and accommodations with senior leaders.
  • Deliver a seamless candidate experience through curated interview itineraries and white-glove onsite support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, communications or another related field.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
