Patient Support Service Assistant

We are currently hiring Patient Service Support Assistant at Royal Adelaide Hospital.

This is a Part-time permanent role - Night shift - Teu, Wed & Thur - 11.00pm - 7.00am Shift

Responsibilities – Key Result Areas:

Respond to all service requests received through handheld device immediately as they are received 

• Raise a service request as required to ensure coordination of work in the area or at the request of clinical staff 

• Advise the Help Desk Operator through the correct application of the hand held communication device, immediately when jobs are received and when the job has been completed 

• Advise the Help Desk Operator immediately and each time ANY delay outside of the PSSAs control is experienced, stating the nature of the delay. 

Patient Food Service:

• To assist patients with menus and the ordering of meals 

• To deliver the full service of meals and beverages 

• To ensure all fridges and freezers are cleaned on a regular basis and are compliant with the storage of food hygiene regulations. 

• To take responsibility for labelling food, discarding out-of-date food, stock rotation

Movement of Patients:

At the request of a member of the clinical team, in all dedicated areas of the hospital, provide assistance with the movement of patients using bed, barouche (trolley), wheelchair conducting safety checks on equipment prior to any transport being used 

• Under direction and supervision of clinical staff, assist with the turning / repositioning of patients, e.g., in the Spinal / Burns / Orthopaedic Units / Technical Suites and assist with patient transfers as required 

• Where required, perform correct and exact identification of patients according to hospital policy and the PSSA service standard operating procedure 

• Perform all movements within designated time frames and according to related standard operating procedures

Education & Qualifications: 

• Cert III in Health Services Assistance or Health Support Services or equivalent is desirable but not essential Experience: 

• Previous experience in a PSSA Service or similar position is preferred but not essential 

• Previous experience in a Healthcare environment is desirable but not essential Skills & Knowledge: 

• Displays competency in the reading and writing of English to enable required duties to be performed safely and to acceptable levels 

• Displays positive communication skills
