The Impact You’ll MakeAs a Senior Backend Engineer at Conntour, you’ll be one of the first engineers shaping the foundation of our platform.You’ll design and build high-scale, performance-critical backend systems that power real-time video and AI-driven workflows in high-stakes environments. Your work will directly influence our architecture, infrastructure, deployment strategy, and engineering standards from the ground up.This is a hands-on role for someone who loves building robust systems, optimizing performance, owning infrastructure, and solving hard problems where reliability and speed matter. What You’ll Do<ul><li>Design, build, and own high-performance backend services for real-time, mission-critical systems.</li><li>Develop scalable data pipelines for camera networks, video streams, AI/ML outputs, and operational insights.</li><li>Build systems optimized for low latency, high throughput, reliability, and resilience.</li><li>Own backend architecture decisions across APIs, databases, infrastructure, observability, and deployment.</li><li>Work closely with ML, product, frontend, and design teams to translate complex AI outputs into reliable product experiences.</li><li>Build and maintain production infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, and modern DevOps practices.</li><li>Improve performance across the stack, including API response times, data processing, database access, and real-time event handling.</li><li>Help design systems that can run both in cloud environments and on-premises / edge deployments.</li><li>Set engineering standards around code quality, testing, deployment, observability, and operational excellence.</li><li>Contribute to the technical roadmap of a platform built to operate in demanding, real-world environments.</li></ul> Who You Are<ul><li>5+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, with strong backend ownership.</li><li>Experienced in building high-scale, production-grade distributed systems.</li><li>Strong understanding of system design, performance optimization, reliability, and scalability.</li><li>Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production operations.</li><li>Comfortable owning infrastructure and DevOps responsibilities, not just application code.</li><li>Experienced with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.</li><li>Strong API design skills and experience building reliable service-to-service architectures.</li><li>Able to move fast while maintaining high standards for stability, security, and maintainability.</li><li>Product-minded, proactive, accountable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.</li><li>Passionate about building technology with real-world consequences.</li><li>Computer science degree</li></ul> Bonus Points For<ul><li>Strong Python experience, especially with FastAPI or similar backend frameworks.</li><li>Experience with real-time video systems, streaming pipelines, or distributed camera networks.</li><li>Experience with computer vision, ML infrastructure, LLMs, vector databases, or AI agents.</li><li>Experience deploying and managing on-premises or edge systems.</li><li>Experience with GPU-based workloads, inference pipelines, or NVIDIA DeepStream.</li><li>Experience designing systems that operate under strict latency, bandwidth, or hardware constraints.</li><li>Background in defense-tech, security, robotics, autonomous systems, or physical-world AI.</li><li>Prior startup experience, especially in early-stage or 0→1 environments.</li><li>Experience working closely with design and product teams to build intuitive technical workflows.</li></ul> Why ConntourCutting-edge technologyWork on real-time vision models, multimodal AI, distributed video systems, and fast operational interfaces.Mission with impactYour systems will help protect lives and critical infrastructure in Israel and beyond.Ownership from day oneJoin as one of the first 20 employees and help shape the architecture, infrastructure, engineering culture, and technical direction of the company.Hard problems, real usersBuild systems that need to perform reliably in complex, high-stakes, real-world environments.We move fast, care deeply, and are looking for teammates who do the same.Join us — let’s build something that matters.
