About Wooster Games
Wooster Games is the studio behind Animal Company, a free-to-play VR co-op adventure game. Within a year of launch, Animal Company became the top-selling game of 2025 on Meta's platform, reaching 1M+ monthly active users with zero marketing spend, a 400K+ Discord community, and a global fanbase that has generated 1.5B+ organic views across social media. At Wooster Games, we believe digital entertainment should be more social, more physical, and creatively empowering. As we scale beyond a single title, we're partnering with leading tech and entertainment companies to shape the future of interactive play.
About the Role
You'll be building environments for current and unannounced titles in production, potentially across multiple platforms including VR, PC, and console. You will shape the look, feel and style of our games with real influence over where the art direction lands.
This is a remote, contract position — hours will fluctuate with production needs
Responsibilities
Create compelling 2D/3D environments, environment props, and other game assets in a heavily stylized aesthetic
Build environments that hold up across VR, PC, and console — each platform has its own performance ceiling, and you plan for it up front
Some “technical art” understanding/experience in Unity required: materials and shader graph, lighting, prefabs, addressables, and profiling your assets on target hardware - you get your art into the engine looking right, not just handed off
Contribute to environment design — blockouts, player flow, sightlines, and readability - so spaces play as well as they look
Create effective marketing assets to support launch and drive conversion (2D assets, trailers, store art)
Collaborate with other artists and developers to improve the game
You must be available during US EST or PST time zones to collaborate with the team
Requirements
Skills
Technical art ability in Unity - comfortable with code in the Editor including materials, shaders, lighting, and asset optimization across multiple build targets
Multi-platform experience — you understand the trade-offs between a VR headset, a PC build, and a console target
Design instinct - you can take a space from gray box to shipped and make deliberate choices about how players move through it
Experience using Blender, Unity, Figma, and Adobe
Demonstrate creative and imaginative designs, with an emphasis on unique characters and atmospheric environments
Bonus: Quick 2D concept art or hand sketches; Editor tooling that speeds up the art team; experience with AI-assisted art or pipeline tools
