ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is looking for a Maintenance Technician to complete assigned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance repairs. We are looking for someone who has working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, doors: interior and exterior, water heater, and painting.   Union: SEIU Local 73 Pay: $20.00 per hour.  The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

  • Classroom & Facility Repairs: Fixing furniture, repairing drywall, painting, and hanging whiteboards or projectors.
  • Systems Maintenance: Monitoring and troubleshooting campus HVAC, basic plumbing (clogged toilets, leaky sinks), and lighting systems.
  • Safety & Security Compliance: Checking fire extinguishers, testing emergency exit signs, and maintaining door locks and security gates.
  • Playground & Athletic Field Upkeep: Inspecting playground equipment for safety (especially in elementary schools) and maintaining sports fields or gymnasiums (common in middle/high schools). 
  • Event Setups: Moving tables, chairs, and AV equipment for assemblies, sports events, graduation ceremonies, and PTA meetings.
  • Seasonal Adjustments: Handling snow removal, salting walkways, or summer deep-cleaning and classroom turnovers.
  • Rapid Emergency Response: Addressing immediate hazards like broken glass, major water leaks, or sudden electrical outages during the school day.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing building maintenance duties listed above
  • Basic knowledge of proper use of power tools, hand tools.
  • Basic knowledge of operating a computer and Microsoft programs 
  • Recognize various hardware parts and methods of repair for related tasks.
  • Must possess organizational skills.
  • Must be able to perform unsupervised

  • Student Safety: All work must be conducted with a high awareness of student presence, often requiring repairs to be done after hours or during school breaks.
