Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
This position involves intensive ballot processing including removing tabs from ballot envelopes, separating and sorting ballots from envelopes, and batching and scanning ballots for tabulation. Other responsibilities include ballot adjudication, ballot replication, affidavit signature verification, operation of various ballot equipment, maintaining chain of custody forms, assisting in ballot retrieval from ballot drop boxes, pushing and loading carts of equipment, and assisting in machine deployment. Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have experience operating an ipad or similar tablet device, possess basic math and organizational skills, be able to sit or stand for long periods of time (6+ hours), ability to lift 30 lbs, ability to focus with attention to detail, have basic computer skills, and be able to perform repetitive tasks for extended time periods. Must possess the ability to represent the Clerk’s office in a professional, non-partisian manner.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and may be offered overtime for an election cycle time period usually lasting 3-5 weeks. Working dates and times can vary based on ballot return rates.
PAY RATE
$20.00/hour
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION
- This is a temporary election-specific position located in the Salt Lake County Clerk's office.
- The start date is Monday, October 19, 2026, and the job will conclude once the election season and associated work has ended.
TEMPORARY POSITIONS
An “At Will”, FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County Benefits.
- Are not eligible for County benefits except as otherwise provided for by policy
- Are not considered merit employees
- Are “at Will” employees who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing.
