FERO is a Dutch fintech scaling fast from Amsterdam, Spain and the UK and looking for the operational backbone to help us do it right.



About the role

We're looking for a Head of Operations to take ownership of the functions that keep a scaling fintech running: accounts, HR, financial reporting,and central management information (MI). This is a hands-on operator role, not a coordination-only function as you'll own outcomes across these areas, not just facilitate them for others.


You'll report directly to the CEO and will have direct reports from day one. As FERO scales past 50 people you'll be central to building the reporting, financial and people infrastructure that supports the next stage of growth.



What You'll Do

  • Own financial reporting across the business, working closely with our Dutch, US and UK accounting functions
  • Oversee reconciliation and financial reporting through our Senior Reconciliation Analyst
  • Take ownership of HR policies, processes, and people operations
  • Design and build central management information (MI): consolidated reporting and dashboards giving the business a single source of truth across finance, people, and operations
  • Partner closely with the CEO on cross-functional priorities, providing the operational judgement and follow-through to turn decisions into execution
  • Identify and fix process gaps as FERO scales from onboarding to reporting cadence to decision rights
  • Work across Dutch, Spanish and UK operations, navigating multi-jurisdiction labor law and compliance requirements


What we are looking for


  • 5+ years of experience in an operations, finance, or chief-of-staff-style role, ideally with at least one stretch inside a scaling startup (30-150+ people)
  • Genuine comfort moving between HR, finance, and reporting workstreams in the same week as this is a generalist role, not a specialist one
  • Finance literacy sufficient to sanity-check reporting and reconciliation work and hold your own with external accountants, you don't need to be a qualified accountant, but you need real fluency
  • People management experience
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and low attachment to a fixed lane; this role will shift in scope as the business scales
  • Strong enough to challenge senior leaders and push back constructively, not just execute instructions


Nice to have

  • Experience operating across multiple European jurisdictions (Netherlands, Spain, UK)
  • Background in fintech, payments, or a regulated financial services environment
  • Experience building management reporting or MI infrastructure from a relatively immature starting point
