Job Summary

The Materials Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and controlling indirect materials and packaging materials to support uninterrupted production operations. This role ensures material availability aligned with production requirements, optimizes inventory levels, coordinates with suppliers and cross-functional teams, and drives supply chain stability while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities Material Planning & Procurement
  • Plan and manage procurement of indirect materials and finished goods packaging materials to support production schedules.
  • Process, monitor, and expedite purchase orders to ensure timely material availability.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to meet supply requirements.
  • Monitor procurement signals and adjust planning parameters as required to support business needs.
  • Build and maintain safety stock levels for critical runner parts and long lead-time components.
  • Support Annual Operating Plan (AOP) activities and supply planning initiatives.
Inventory Management & Warehousing
  • Manage indirect inventory planning, control, and optimization activities.
  • Ensure availability of materials in FPC zones as per production requirements.
  • Oversee warehousing, storage, issuance, and replenishment of indirect materials.
  • Manage chemical storage in accordance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive inventory accuracy and support inventory reduction initiatives without impacting production.
Supply Chain Coordination
  • Conduct and participate in weekly cross-functional meetings to review inventory status, supply risks, and action plans.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve lead times, delivery performance, and inventory management.
  • Support supplier improvement initiatives and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate part change management activities while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters and master data to support Plan for Every Part (PFEP) requirements.
  • Support timely disposition of non-conforming materials in collaboration with Quality teams.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to quality, safety, inventory, and material flow.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor supply chain KPIs and inventory performance metrics.
  • Analyze material shortages, excess inventory, and supply risks and drive corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports and provide timely updates regarding inventory availability and recovery plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, inventory optimization, and supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Additional certifications in Supply Chain Management, Materials Planning, Inventory Management, or Logistics will be an advantage.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of materials planning, procurement, and inventory management principles.
  • Knowledge of indirect procurement planning and packaging material management.
  • Experience with PFEP (Plan for Every Part) methodologies and inventory optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in ERP and materials planning systems.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis capabilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in materials planning, procurement, inventory management, supply chain operations, or logistics within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating with suppliers and managing procurement schedules.
  • Exposure to inventory optimization, warehouse operations, and material flow management.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and supply chain performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of packaging material planning and indirect material management is preferred.
  • Flexibility to support evolving business and operational requirements.
