Your mission
We are looking for a talented and business oriented tech company experienced lawyer to join the Legal team at BlaBlaCar on a permanent contract starting as soon as possible. Their mission is to support the high speed growth of the marketplace and international expansion of the business.
As a Legal Counsel, your role will be to provide support to our marketplace, bus and train business teams on multiple legal practice areas such as commercial contracts, e-commerce, consumer protection and competition law. You will be reporting to the Head of Legal and working with a team of approx. 10 people. Knowledge in EU and FR law is a must; Knowledge of a foreign law (such as laws from Spain, Mexico, Ukraine) is a strong asset.
This position requires the capacity of working in a fast growing tech company, of developing a high level of understanding of how our product works and of creating close connections with operational teams. Having an appetite for project management is a must.
Your Responsibilities

Be a trusted advisor to the marketplace, bus and train business teams in multiple jurisdictions within EU and beyond by providing creative solutions while ensuring compliance with regulations, with a specific focus on our OTA (online travel agency) role;

Managing any pre-litigations and litigations;
-
Drafting and negotiating all types of contracts (including commercial contracts, partnership agreements, etc);
-
Collaborate with internal partners, and notably government relations team, to respond to requests from regulators;
-
All other matters which arise in the day to day running of an expanding business;

Areas of particular relevance include consumer issues, commercial contracts, transportation regulation, e-commerce, digital law, competition law.
Your Qualifications

6 to 8 years of experience as a qualified lawyer in an EU country, with experience in start-ups and new technology companies, either in house or in private practice;
-
Knowledge and experience in dealing with a range of commercial issues such as e-commerce, platform regulation and consumer protection;

Knowledge and experience dealing with regulatory topics;
-
Comfortable working in various jurisdictions;
-
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills;
-
Business oriented, creative and solution driven mind-set;
-
Experience creating and managing processes and moving large-scale project forward;
-
Autonomy and sense of initiative;
-
Ability to work fast and meet aggressive deadlines;
-
Flexibility and eagerness to learn new areas of law;

You have excellent communication skills, you’re humble, and you enjoy sharing & learning from others;

Full working proficiency in English and French. proficiency in an additional language (e.g. Spanish or Ukrainian) considered a strong asset.
