About the role:
In this role, you will leverage advanced actuarial techniques, predictive modeling, and data analytics to solve complex business challenges and support strategic decision-making. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop analytical solutions, evaluate reserves, mentor junior analysts, and drive business performance through data-driven insights and innovation.
In this role you will:
- Applies actuarial models and methods of moderate to high complexity on an ad-hoc basis to solve business problems.
- Serves as subject matter expert for defined procedures of moderate to high complexity.
- Supports implementation and documentation of new and innovative advanced methods and models.
- Writes code of moderate to high complexity using SQL, Python, R or similar to query, calculate, transform, combine and visualize data.
- Performs EDA to verify adequacy of data for task and performs reasonability checks.
- Support the design, development and validation of predictive and prescriptive solutions with appropriate guidance to inform decisions and make recommendations.
- Pursue problem identification and impact across large data sets, leveraging statistical and visualization techniques to further enhance insight and internal performance optimization.
- Develop and build analytical solutions to solve ad-hoc business problems based on existing requirements, models, and methods.
- Perform ad-hoc assignments with minimal guidance required, taking reasonable measures to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness.
- Mentors and trains junior analysts.
- May lead team projects.
- Work with various functions, including finance, accounting, engineering, platform teams, R&D, IT, and others as required.
- Perform periodic reserve reviews (e.g. UPR, IBNR, cancellation).
What makes you an ideal candidate?
- Experienced with traditional methods for ratemaking, reserving, and other actuarial analyses.
- Experienced developing analytical solutions using R, Python or similar tools, such as reserving software.
- Mastery of data visualization techniques and modern interactive data visualization tools.
- Strong working knowledge of code-based data visualization.
- Experienced with querying, combining, and transforming complex data through SQL, Python, R or similar tools.
- Experience applying advanced methods of probability and statistics, statistical modeling, data mining, machine learning, or deep learning techniques to solve business problems.
- High-level organizational and project management skills in order to handle assignments in a timely manner and to monitor processes throughout a team or department.
- Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills.
- Strong oral and written communication, including active listening skills.
- Make effective presentations and recommendations to department, manager, and immediate executive.
- Effective collaboration with multi-disciplinary groups to achieve assigned objectives.
- Working knowledge of reserving software such as ResQ, Arius, etc.
- Working effectively within an AI enabled environment.
Work Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or other quantitative field required.
- 3-5 years of experience with actuarial ratemaking and reserving, statistics, data science, and/or related quantitative experience required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society; may be actively pursuing Fellowship required
