Labcorp is seeking a Senior Research Assistant to join our team in Madison, WI!

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30 am-3:15 pm CST

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Research Assistant collects, documents, and manages study data, including animal observations, test material administration, and clinical sample collection, while ensuring compliance with SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory requirements. This role supports animal welfare and promotes a Culture of Care, with responsibility for scheduling and assigning in-life study activities.

A key responsibility is providing CMS scheduling and micro-scheduling support for research studies, including specialty projects. The role manages schedule changes, rush requests, reschedules, and study design updates, supports both Madison and Greenfield operations, and helps ensure studies remain on schedule while meeting

  • Ensure animals are cared for in accordance with regulatory guidelines and with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles.

  • Perform animal husbandry duties as needed.

  • Report all animal care concerns and becomes involved in resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.

  • Understand regulatory requirements (including those concerning USDA and AAALAC).

  • May have animal care and use activities (ACUA) input.

  • Operate various data collection systems and is capable of basic troubleshooting.

  • Understand and interpret complex protocols and may help with protocol development/creation.

  • Advanced knowledge of good research practice (GXP) principles.

  • May provide audit responses.

  • Ability to identify and take appropriate action with problems, potential problems with protocols, SOPs and schedules.

  • Perform edit and scheduling functions using data collection systems.

  • Ensure that studies are scheduled/conducted according to protocol, standard operating procedure documents, and regulatory agency guidelines.

  • Update and maintain scheduling documents.

  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times.

  • Help support on study activities and cover workload wherever needed.

  • Train, assist and/or mentor staff.

  • Monitor staff workload and balance scheduling activities.

  • Communicate equipment and training needs dependent on current and upcoming workload.

  • May help cover study initiation and account reviews.

  •  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (Biology, Wildlife, Pre-veterinary, Zoology, Animal Science, or related Life Science disciplines) OR 2 years or more of experience in a research or laboratory role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AALAS certification.
