Licensed Plumber for Union Position

As a Licensed Plumber (Union Position), you will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and inspecting plumbing systems to ensure their safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role provides the opportunity to work on a variety of projects supporting facility infrastructure and operations, helping maintain a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.

The Licensed Plumber reports directly to the Facilities Manager and works primarily on-site in Plymouth, MN in support of daily operations and facility maintenance needs. This position requires the application of journey-level plumbing knowledge, adherence to applicable codes and regulations, and collaboration with other trades and facility personnel.

In this role, you will contribute to the reliability, functionality, and safety of facility infrastructure by ensuring that all plumbing systems, equipment, and related components meet operational requirements, regulatory standards, and established safety practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and modify plumbing and piping systems, including pipes, fixtures, water supply lines, drainage systems, and related equipment.
• Perform diversified plumbing work involving the installation, repair, and maintenance of complete piping systems serving air compressors, boilers, vacuum pumps, hydraulic presses, and other facility equipment.
• Diagnose plumbing and piping system malfunctions, identify root causes of failures, and implement timely corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
• Plan and execute piping installations, exercising independent judgment in determining routing, placement, and connection methods while ensuring system integrity and preventing breakage, leakage, or equipment damage.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and work orders to complete assigned projects and maintenance activities.
• Ensure all plumbing work complies with applicable plumbing codes, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company standards.
• Coordinate work activities and provide direction to assigned helpers or apprentices in the performance of plumbing installations and repairs.
• Inspect plumbing systems and equipment to identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and support preventive maintenance initiatives.
• Order and maintain adequate inventories of plumbing materials, supplies, and repair parts required to complete assigned work.
• Identify and report equipment failures, recurring issues, or unusual operating conditions to the Supervisor for analysis and corrective action.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, inspections completed, and repairs conducted.

Honeywell Operating System (HOS) Responsibilities

• Actively embrace, support, and participate in the Honeywell Operating System (HOS) and associated continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in safety programs and activities, including the Behavioral Observation Process (BOP), and maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Support and maintain 5S workplace organization standards to ensure safe, efficient, and organized work areas.
• Contribute to Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) efforts by identifying opportunities to improve processes, quality, productivity, and reliability.
• Participate in the Tiered Accountability Process, Standard Work practices, Rapid Problem Solving (RPS), and Built-In Quality (BIQ) activities.
• Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Share technical knowledge and best practices with teammates and provide coaching and guidance as appropriate to support workforce development and operational excellence.

The annual base salary for this position is $95,195.36. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Qualifications, Requirements, and Working Conditions

Minimum Qualifications (You Must Have)

• Valid Minnesota Journeyman Plumber License.
• Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing systems in commercial and/or industrial environments.
• Thorough knowledge of plumbing methods, codes, regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from building drawings, blueprints, layouts, schematics, specifications, and technical documents.
• Proficiency in the use of plumbing tools, equipment, and testing devices, including pipe cutters, threading machines, and diagnostic equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex plumbing and piping system issues efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to perform work independently while also collaborating effectively with maintenance personnel, contractors, and other trades.

Preferred Qualifications (We Value)

• Completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program or related vocational/technical training.
• Several years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or commercial plumbing environments.
• Experience supporting facility infrastructure systems, including compressed air, boilers, vacuum systems, hydraulic equipment, and process piping.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to lead, instruct, and work cooperatively with helpers, apprentices, and other team members.
• Experience participating in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or similar operational excellence programs.

Educational Requirements

Employees assigned to this position must successfully complete, with a grade of C or better, a minimum of twelve (12) credits at Hennepin Technical College within two (2) years of assignment to the position.

• FLWP 1150 – Pneumatic Components
• FLWP 1340 – Pneumatic Circuits and Air Logic
• APKG 2105 – Automated Motion Control
• APKG 1125 – Power Transmission and Mechanical Systems
• Interpreting Machine and Control Schematics (approved elective)
• Machine- or System-Specific Training (approved elective)

Substitution of courses may be approved with prior authorization from Supervision and Factory Compensation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform sustained physical work involving the handling, installation, and repair of light-to-heavy piping systems, plumbing components, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver tools, materials, and equipment associated with plumbing operations.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in industrial environments.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in industrial, manufacturing, and facility environments.
• Regular exposure to varying levels of dust, dirt, noise, heat, cold, humidity, and other environmental conditions that may make the work somewhat disagreeable.
• May require work in mechanical rooms, production areas, confined spaces, elevated locations, and outdoor environments as operational needs dictate.
• Must adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
