B-dul 21 Decembrie 1989 No. 77 Building D-E-F, RomaniaRegularPosted Aug 5, 2026

The Solutions Architect will lead Marsh Risk’s European Architecture Strategy and oversee its implementation through a portfolio of delivery initiatives, ensuring architecture and technology decisions made at project level align with Marsh Risk Tech’s strategic direction over the medium term (3 years) and long term (5+ years).

This role will provide architectural insight and strategic advice to senior management, shaping enterprise roadmaps that deliver business strategy and agreed outcomes. You will ensure technology investments are effective, solutions are reusable, and third-party deliverables meet Marsh Risk and wider Marsh standards.

You may also act as the “on point” Lead Architect on complex transformational programs—leading Solution Architects and delivery teams, resolving issues, making key decisions, and ensuring alignment to Marsh and MMC strategies, standards, and principles. The role may represent Architecture in governance forums and deputize for the Head of Architecture when required.

We will count on you to:

  • Lead European enterprise architecture strategy for Marsh Risk and guide its execution across multiple concurrent projects and programs.

  • Act as Solutions Architect  for complex transformation initiatives:

    • Provide decision-making leadership, resolve cross-team issues, and ensure architectural consistency across projects.

    • Lead/coordinate Solution Architects and influence delivery teams to implement architecture as designed.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise roadmaps aligned to business strategy, proactively managing platform/technology obsolescence and architectural risk.

  • Ensure solutions leverage appropriate technology patterns and capabilities, including:

    • Packaged/COTS solutions, SaaS platforms, common services, IT platforms, and cloud services (IaaS/PaaS)

    • Reusable components and shared capabilities where appropriate

  • Ensure architecture addresses key dimensions and produces high-quality artifacts (ADDs / Agile equivalents), covering:

    • Conceptual and logical architecture

    • Data and integration models (including APIs/services)

    • Deployment and support/operating models

    • Security, resilience, and non-functional requirements as part of “secure-by-design”

  • Maintain and govern the Enterprise Architecture repository and the architecture artifacts that underpin the enterprise.

  • Provide guidance across architecture domains to Solution Architects and IT communities, supporting consistent solution design and delivery quality.

  • Drive collaboration across IT teams to ensure the integrity and security of architecture, flexibility of design, and quality of solutions.

  • Review and approve architecture deliverables produced by peers; provide constructive feedback and ensure adherence to standards and guidelines.

  • Work closely with vendors to evaluate products and capabilities and assure the quality of their solutions and deliverables.

  • Participate in and, when needed, lead/attend relevant governance bodies; deputize for the Head of Architecture as required.

What you need to have:

  • Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in systems design/solution architecture, with strong web computing foundations and enterprise delivery exposure.

  • Demonstrated success leading architecture across enterprise-scale applications/projects, including complex transformation programs.

  • Strong experience producing architecture artifacts and communicating architecture clearly (logical component views, integration sequences/collaborations, deployment views).

  • Strong understanding of SDLC and full lifecycle implementations across traditional and modern delivery methods.

  • Broad technology experience across:

    • Custom-built enterprise applications and packaged/COTS solutions

    • SaaS platforms and cloud services (IaaS/PaaS)

    • Integration (application & data), APIs/services, XML/JSON/REST

    • UML and architecture modeling

    • Databases (RDBMS and NoSQL concepts); SQL Server/T-SQL specifically is a strong requirement in the detailed profile

  • Experience working with and guiding delivery teams (development, infrastructure, project teams) to ensure standards are met and solutions remain aligned.

  • Strong vendor management/assurance capability: evaluating third parties and ensuring deliverable quality.

  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to summarize complex technical issues to senior management.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a global environment with in-house, contract, and offshore/third-party teams.

What makes you stand out?

  • Experience with TOGAF / ADM and enterprise architecture viewpoints (business, application, data, technology)

  • Strong hands-on experience with Agile and DevOps practices and embedding them into delivery governance

  • Experience with containerization and modern platform patterns.

  • Experience mentoring junior architects/engineers and raising architectural capability across teams

  • Experience with mediation/messaging technologies (ESB/message brokers) and large-scale integration ecosystems.

  • Ability to bring emerging technology thinking (including AI where relevant) into pragmatic, value-driven architecture decisions
