Cabling Technician

The role of the Cabling Technician is to is to perform the best customer-service experience for measuring, cutting, and laying out cable and associated hardware for installation in a medical setting, and run cable in appropriate locations, following stringent real-time requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Willingness and ability to travel 80-100% of the time (depending on market)
- Complete tasks on scheduled date and within a specified timeframe while offering world-class customer service
- Comply with protocols for communicating status and issues related to work orders
- Install and support all types of Network media, Cat5/6, Coax, Fiber Optic
- Install connections, fittings and termination hardware for connection to end-user equipment
- Use diagnostic test equipment to ensure correct signal transmission
- Document job-related expenses and timekeeping records to submit in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot complex issues to ensure acceptable quality of service
- Provide management with feedback and ideas for continuous improvement
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Technical school or military training in Electrical, Electronics Technician, or IT areas is a plus
- Experience in Biomedical Technology is highly desirable
- Proficiency in with Microsoft Office Suite and Visio
- Professional manner, appearance, and discretion in engaging customer
- Use standard office equipment such as computers and phones
- Reliable transportation for coverage area
- Self-guided and able to work independently
- Strong organizational skills
CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS:
- Progressive is committed to ensuring compliance with all customer-specific mandates, including vaccinations and/or screening tests. As such, we are unable to guarantee work for any personnel who fail to meet these requirements. These requirements include documentary proof of:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) - within last 10 years
- Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) - 2 doses or titer
- Hepatitis B (HepB) - 3 doses or titer
- Varicella (Chicken Pox) - 2 doses or titer or history of disease
- Tuberculosis (TB) Test - within 1 year
- Flu (current flu season)
- Covid (not required but strongly recommended)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Carry and monitor company phone, be available and responsive during scheduled and non-scheduled hours, except during rest and meal periods as required by applicable state law
- Flexible in working hours as this position will require customer support during non-regular business hours, mandatory overtime on short notice, overnight travel, and/or weekend work as necessary
- Climb ladders and work overhead from an elevated position
- Read blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical instructions in English
- Use of common hand tools, specialized cable termination tools, and measuring devices, including tape measures, laser measuring devices, calipers, and measuring wheels
- Lift carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
- Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, and extended reach in tight spaces
- Regular grasping and repetitive hand movements
- Visual acuity adequate to differentiate wire colors and to work with small wiring and connections
