Senior/Staff DRAM BIOS Firmware Partner Lab Support Engineer

Taichung, TaiwanFull-timePosted Jul 24, 2026

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As a Senior/Staff DRAM BIOS Firmware Partner Lab Support Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will work at the intersection of system firmware and DRAM product engineering. The primary function of this role is to apply system and BIOS firmware—particularly early boot and memory initialization stages—to enable, qualify, validate, and debug Micron memory products on next‑generation platforms.

This role focuses on using firmware as a technical instrument for memory bring‑up, training, configuration, margining, and failure analysis, directly influencing DRAM readiness, quality, and customer success. You will work closely with System Enablers, External platform partners, DRAM Product Engineering to support early silicon, qualification, and customer enablement activities across Nvidia, Intel, AMD, and ARM ecosystems.

What You Will Do

Memory Enablement & Product Support (Primary Focus)

  • Server as the primarily onsite BIOS engineering for enabler and customer
  • Use BIOS and system firmware to:
    • Enable and debug DRAM initialization and training flows
    • Support memory qualification, validation, and characterization
    • Investigate boot, training, stability, margin, and field issues related to memory
  • Analyze and modify memory reference code (MRC) integrations to support Micron DRAM
  • Correlate firmware behavior with electrical and functional DRAM outcomes
  • Develop and use firmware-based debug hooks, controls, and instrumentation to accelerate root-cause analysis

Firmware Development & Debug

  • Design, modify, and maintain early boot firmware (SEC/PEI/Pre‑Memory, SoC init, memory init paths)
  • Integrate and debug platform vendor MRCs (Intel, AMD, ARM)
  • Add firmware support for:
    • New DRAM types, configurations, and revisions
    • Training modes, timing features, and platform‑specific requirements
  • Maintain BIOS images used by:
    • DRAM compatibility and validation labs
    • Failure analysis and characterization teams
    • System partners and select customers

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work directly with:
    • Internal System Enablers and external platform partners
    • DRAM Design and Product Engineering
    • System Validation, Characterization, and FA teams
    • Production Engineering and Quality
  • Translate DRAM-level issues into targeted firmware experiments
  • Represent firmware considerations in platform readiness and qualification discussions

Scope & Influence

  • Independently own complex memory-focused firmware debug efforts
  • Mentor other engineers in memory bring‑up and debug workflows
  • Drive improvements in firmware tooling and processes that increase validation efficiency and product readiness
  • Using AI to make the daily work more efficiency

Required / Preferred Skills & Experience

Experience

  • 5+ years of firmware, low-level systems, or platform enablement experience
  • Prior experience with memory initialization, training, bring‑up, or debug strongly preferred

Firmware & Software

  • UEFI BIOS source development (AMI, Insyde, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience with Memory Reference Code (MRC) integration and debug
  • Proficiency in C; working knowledge of Python and/or Assembly
  • Comfortable working in early boot / pre‑OS environments

Hardware & Systems

  • Strong understanding of system‑level interactions between:
    • CPU, memory controller, and DRAM subsystems
  • Familiarity with x86 and/or ARM platforms
  • Experience debugging real hardware issues involving memory stability, training, or boot behavior

Personal Attributes

  • Strong analytical and root‑cause analysis skills across HW/SW boundaries
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Effective collaborator across vendor / engineering disciplines
  • Self‑directed, technically curious, and comfortable operating in early enablement phases
