Deployment Associate - Field Operations
About the role
Human Archive runs large-scale field deployments to collect egocentric robotics data.
We are hiring a Deployment Associate to be our person on the ground at every site. You will be the site lead for your deployment - setting up and running the capture devices, building and maintaining the task taxonomy that defines what gets collected, supervising the workers performing the tasks, and making sure every hour of data that leaves the site is clean, complete, and correctly labelled.
This is the role that decides whether a deployment produces usable data or unusable data. It is hands-on, detail-heavy, and best suited to someone who is equally comfortable talking to workers on a shop floor and enforcing a strict data protocol.
What you will do
Own the taxonomy
Build and maintain the task and activity taxonomy for each deployment - the breakdown of tasks, sub-tasks, objects, and environments being captured
Study the site's real workflows and translate them into a clear, consistent, collectable structure
Keep naming conventions, labels, and category definitions consistent across sites, days, and operators
Flag gaps, overlaps, and ambiguous categories, and refine the taxonomy as new environments are onboarded
Run the site
Act as site lead for the deployment - first point of contact for the client site, the workers, and the internal team
Brief workers on what is being captured, how, and why, and keep them productive through the day
Supervise, correct, and re-train operators in real time so capture quality does not drift
Track daily targets - hours captured, tasks covered, sessions completed - and report progress
Deploy the hardware
Set up, fit, calibrate, and troubleshoot capture devices (head-mounted cameras, sensors, recorders, batteries, storage)
Manage charging, storage cards, device assignment, and end-of-day teardown
Diagnose and resolve device failures on the spot; escalate and swap when they cannot be fixed
Maintain accurate device, accessory, and inventory records for dispatch and return
Own the data
Run data collection end to end - capture, offload, verification, backup, and upload
Check every session before it leaves the site: correct framing, complete recordings, no corrupt or missing files, correct metadata
Maintain session logs mapping every file to task, worker, device, location, and timestamp
Follow and improve SOPs
Execute deployment SOPs exactly - setup checklists, consent and safety protocols, capture standards, upload procedures
Enforce compliance across the whole site team, not just yourself
Document what breaks in the field and turn it into better SOPs, checklists, and training material
Help train new associates and team leads as we scale to more sites and cities
Who we are looking for
1–4 years of experience in field operations (in companies like Swiggy, Zomato, Snabbit, Urban Company, Blinkit etc), data collection, production, QC, or a similar hands-on execution role. Someone who has managed the cluster or area and lead the team.
Genuinely detail-oriented - you notice a mislabelled folder, a wrong angle, or a missing file before anyone else does
Quite comfortable with travel as it can be hectic like - 1st week in Assam then next to Bihar, and 3rd can be in Chennai.
Comfortable with structure: checklists, naming conventions, logs, spreadsheets, and daily reporting
Practically minded with hardware - you can set up, debug, and maintain equipment without needing an engineer
Able to lead and direct a group of workers with respect and clarity, including people from very different backgrounds
Calm and decisive when a device dies, a worker doesn't show up, or a site changes plans mid-day
Willing to travel and be on-site full time, including in factories, warehouses, kitchens, workshops, and other working environments
High agency and high urgency - you take full ownership of your site's output
Experience in field data collection, data operations or ground operations at companies like Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, Urban Company, Delhivery, Amazon, or Flipkart is a strong advantage.
This is not a desk role. You will spend your days on site, with the devices, the workers, and the data.
