About the role

An energetic person who will be a key part of Carrier Engineering Embedded Platforms team, developing and releasing robust Yocto-based Linux OS distributions to multiple Business Units for various embedded product applications. This position requires the ability to work under minimal direction, utilize coding skills and automation expertise, interact, and collaborate with diverse geographically distributed teams, and to establish best practice/guideline for Linux build and deployments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

• Development and migration of existing systems to Yocto-based platforms

• Maintain and support the Yocto build system in a CI/CD environment, including packaging and deployment of software images. Close connection to the Yocto project and collaboration with the open-source community.

• Configure, modify, and integrate the kernel and embedded boot loaders.

• Responsible for custom driver porting and applying patches to legacy packages.·        

• Development of embedded middleware applications, stacks, IPCs, Protocols drivers for Linux platforms,

• Researching, proposing, and integrating relevant open-source solutions, do performance analysis, including root cause analysis of performance issues based on project objectives.

• Design and maintain clean, stable, and well-documented APIs and SDKs that allow other developers to build features without modifying the platform core.

• Develop or utilize Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) or Cloud Abstraction Layers to ensure the software remains portable across different environments or hardware versions.

• Proficiently work with development methodologies such as Agile, SAFe etc. and related project management tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, IBM Jazz etc.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications: BE/ME or BTech/MTech – Electronics or BE/BTech in Electronics or ME/MTech in computer Science with 6+ years of experience in below areas: -

·         Professional experience in software development using C/C++

·         Experience in using scripting languages like Python, Shell etc

·         Hands on expertise on Linux OS, RTOS, multithreading

·         Development experience with various communication protocols like IP, DHCP, RS232 RS485, I2C, SPI, CAN, CANOpen  etc.

·         A passion for Linux and open source

·         Solid experience in using embedded Linux (Yocto/ Open Embedded or build root)

·         Experience in using U-Boot, Linux kernel configuration and Device tree.

·         Confident in the use of GNU (Cross-)Toolchain, (C)Make

·         Experience in creating images for different hardware platforms like ARM series (NXP, TI)

·         Experience with modern DevOps practices and tools: test-driven development, SCM (Git), automated builds and tests, CI/CD with Gitlab, Jenkins, AWS etc.

·         Git expertise to ensure merges, rebasing, cherry picking etc

·         Expert knowledge of build automation/DevOps tools (e.g. Bitbucket, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Chef/Ansible etc)

·         Knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts of DevSecOps and Cybersecurity.

·         Hands-on experience to build and handle VM’s, Containers utilizing tools like, Docker.
