Your Role

As a Senior Azure SQL Database Engineer at Capgemini, you will be responsible for the design, development, optimization, and support of enterprise-scale database solutions within Azure environments. You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of critical data platforms while supporting complex business applications and data-driven initiatives.

This role requires deep expertise in Azure SQL technologies, advanced SQL development, cloud-based data services, and database performance optimization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions and continuously improve database operations.

Responsibilities & Scope

• Design, develop, and optimize database solutions using Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Server.
• Create, maintain, and enhance complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and database objects.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Analyze and optimize query execution plans, indexing strategies, and database configurations.
• Diagnose and resolve database performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and operational incidents.
• Support database development activities across enterprise applications and data platforms.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to understand data requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Support ETL and data integration processes leveraging Azure data services.
• Contribute to automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives within the database environment.
• Ensure database availability, security, reliability, and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and advanced SQL development.
• 10+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies.
• 5+ years of experience with Redis.
• Strong expertise in Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Server administration and development.
• Advanced knowledge of complex SQL query development, stored procedures, performance tuning, and database optimization.
• Experience with:
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure AI services
• Qlik ETL Tasks
• Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance management.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in production environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with database performance monitoring, alerting, and automation tools.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Understanding of cloud-native data architectures and modern data platform concepts.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications in Azure environments.
• Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices for database deployments.
• Knowledge of data integration and ETL best practices.
