We have an immediate opportunity for a dynamic Environmental, Health, Safety & Fire Protection (EHSFP) Manager 2 to join our team in Sunnyvale, California. This role supports one of our highest‑visibility manufacturing sites and is critical to driving injury reduction, regulatory compliance excellence, and a strong EHS culture.

Reporting to the Site EHSFP Manager, this leader will manage assigned EHS programs and a subset of the EHSFP staff, with responsibility across safety and environmental programs (including air, wastewater, and stormwater). The successful candidate will be a hands‑on leader who can engage teams on the shop floor and in the office, drive continuous improvement, and lead cross‑functional projects in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead assigned Environmental, Health, Safety & Fire Protection programs and a subset of the EHSFP staff for the Sunnyvale site in a high‑risk manufacturing environment.

• Partner with site and program leadership to set clear EHS expectations, visibly champion EHS culture, and drive injury reduction and risk‑reduction initiatives.

• Partner with union representatives, joint safety committees, and line management to identify hazards, resolve concerns, and implement sustainable EHS improvements.

• Plan, lead, and sustain continuous improvement projects (e.g., standard work, hazard reduction, process simplification) that measurably improve EHS performance and employee engagement.

• Collaborate with the sector EHSFP Director and other site EHS leaders to align strategies, share best practices, and enhance overall sector EHSFP performance.

• Develop, implement, and maintain programs covering key areas such as: machine guarding, LOTO, electrical safety, fall protection, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, contractor safety, hot work, and other core safety programs.

• Oversee environmental programs including air permitting, wastewater, and stormwater requirements; ensure adherence to applicable California and federal regulations and internal standards.

• Manage relationships and interactions with regulatory agencies (e.g., Cal/OSHA, EPA, AQMD/local air district, local wastewater and stormwater authorities); lead or support agency inspections and responses.

• Conduct or oversee inspections, audits, and incident investigations; ensure high‑quality root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions to closure.

• Support site EHSFP budgeting and resource planning; identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and better use of tools/technology.

• Develop, mentor, and coach EHSFP team members and site leaders; support training, competency development, and succession planning within the EHSFP function.

• Possess Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan, and execute in rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results.

• Strong management, coaching, and collaboration skills.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental, Health, Safety, Physical Science or similar with at least 8 years of EHS experience or a Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental, Health, Safety, Physical Science or similar with at least 6 years of EHS experience

• 5 years of Leadership/ Supervisory experience

• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance as well as the ability to obtain and maintain Program Special Access based on business needs

• US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous DoD, Military or Aerospace facilities experience

• Experience leading EHS efforts at manufacturing operations or sites with elevated injury rates and complex regulatory requirements.

• Experience working in a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Demonstrated success driving measurable reductions in injuries, serious incidents, and/or regulatory findings through structured problem solving and continuous improvement.

• Experience working with California regulators (e.g., Cal/OSHA, local air districts, regional water boards) and managing site‑level environmental permits (air, wastewater, stormwater).

• Experience leading cross‑functional teams and complex projects from concept through implementation and sustainment.

• Mid-level or higher proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Professional certifications in EHS related programs (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist).

• Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs.

• Ability to provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound safety principles.

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,100.00 - $199,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
