Based on the spectacular West Coast, this is an opportunity to build a career while working on some of New Zealand's most critical communications infrastructure. You'll install, maintain and commission the networks that keep communities, emergency services and businesses connected across the region and beyond.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. One day you could be fault finding on a remote transmission site, the next commissioning new infrastructure or delivering upgrades for customers. You'll combine technical expertise with practical problem solving to deliver high-quality outcomes safely, on time and to specification, while building trusted relationships with the customers who rely on us.
Ko tō mahi – What you will do
Reporting to the Field Team Lead, you'll be part of our Field Operations team delivering installation, maintenance and commissioning services across Kordia's broadcast and telecommunications networks. You'll enjoy the autonomy of managing your work while collaborating with experienced engineers to solve complex technical challenges and deliver exceptional service.
What you'll be responsible for
- Installing, commissioning, maintaining and repairing broadcast and telecommunications equipment
- Testing, diagnosing and resolving faults across RF, fibre, structured cabling and related systems
- Delivering infrastructure installations that meet technical specifications, quality standards and project deadlines
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- Supporting project planning through cost estimates and equipment recommendations
- Building trusted customer relationships through proactive communication and professional service
- Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance
- Participating in the on-call roster supporting critical communications infrastructure
Nā tōu rourou – What you will bring
- Three or more years' experience in field engineering within telecommunications, broadcasting or a related technical industry, or an equivalent qualification
- Experience working with RF, fibre, data and ICT technologies
- Proven experience installing and commissioning telecommunications or broadcast systems
- Strong fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Confidence interpreting technical drawings and wiring diagrams
- A commitment to safe working practices and quality workmanship
- Excellent communication skills and a customer focused approach
- A New Zealand Certificate (Level 4) or higher in Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
- Be self-motivated and enjoy working autonomously
- The ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and participate in an on-call roster.
- Having fibre, RF, structured cabling or EWP certifications will be an advantage.
