About the Role
The Advanced Materials Engineering group that is within Carrier’s Mechanical Center of Excellence (MCOE) organization is seeking a motivated, results-oriented college student to join our team as a part-time intern (10 hr/week) for the Fall of 2026. The Carrier experience offers interns an environment that provides practical, challenging, and meaningful on-the-job work experience, and the opportunity to apply knowledge and demonstrate strengths in efforts to assist Carrier in achieving its business strategy. You will learn and apply skills in material science, metrology, mechanical testing, non-metallics testing, corrosion analysis, and data analyzation/management. You will grow professionally to become knowledgeable on material science and material requirements for HVAC&R equipment.
Role Responsibilities:
Support engineering analyses, data reduction, and technical evaluations related to HVAC components, systems, and development projects.
Assist with laboratory testing, test setup, instrumentation, data collection, and documentation of results for compression, heat transfer, materials, and light commercial HVAC applications.
Help develop and improve analytical tools, models, calculations, and workflows using engineering software, spreadsheets, or other digital tools.
Contribute to development activities involving components, materials, refrigerant systems, controls, and operational data used to improve product performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Support digital operations initiatives, including data organization, dashboard development, process documentation, and analysis of lab or operational performance data.
Collaborate with engineers, lab personnel, and cross-functional teams to complete assigned tasks, communicate findings, and support ongoing project needs.
Role Purpose:
Carrier’s engineering and operations is seeking a motivated, results-oriented college student to support engineering activities during the school year.
This internship is expected to be approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate the student’s academic schedule.
The role provides practical, meaningful experience supporting engineering analyses, laboratory testing, and development work across areas such as compression, heat transfer, materials science, light commercial HVAC, and digital operations.
The student will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge, build technical skills, and contribute to projects that support Carrier’s business and technology objectives.
Basic Qualifications
Must be currently pursuing bachelor’s degree or higher degree Chemical, Materials or any Engineering field.
Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
Preferred Requirements:
Preferred coursework, project experience, or prior internship experience in one or more relevant areas such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechanical systems, materials science, HVAC systems, data analysis, or digital tools.
Interest in supporting engineering analysis, laboratory testing, product development, and continuous improvement activities across HVAC technologies and operations.
Familiarity with engineering software, spreadsheets, data visualization, coding, modeling, or other digital tools used to organize, analyze, and communicate technical information.
Self-driven and proactive approach to learning, problem solving, and completing assigned work.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, lab personnel, and cross-functional team members.
Team-oriented mindset with willingness to collaborate with others on technical projects.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while balancing academic commitments.
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $43,500.00 - $87,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.Other Compensation
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.Benefits
