Job overview and responsibilities

United Ops Performance team is responsible to support Network Operations across different functional areas including Reliability & Turn performance, Delay & RCA insights, customer journey, bags, ground time, airport staffing, airport congestion and construction, irregular operations, etc.

The Associate Developer will support the Operations Data Products and BI team to design, build and deploy analytical data products including dashboards and web applications  to United leadership with the goal of enabling better operational decisions that improve on-time performance and customer experience. The Associate Developer will work with various Ops business groups to understand organizational needs and design requirements, build solutions to support high priority strategic projects.  The focus will be to understand and build high-quality datasets that drive BI reporting and analysis and help our Ops leaders to go from data to insights quickly and drive performance.

What we are looking for:
An analyst who has a passion for data and analytics with the willingness to dig deep into details as well as the ability to assess the big picture.

In this role, you will be part of the team which supports Air Operations group in United's Chicago headquarters by gathering data, conducting analysis, building and maintaining dashboards, executive reporting and assisting in ad-hoc decision support.

Excellent time management and communication skills are keys to success in this role as the role requires multi-tasking on several initiatives simultaneously.

• Build high-quality dashboards, tools and reports for Air Operations leadership, eTeam, front-line management, and individual business teams throughout the organization
• Automate existing manual reports and processes to improve operational throughput
• Curate tables and views that serve as the "single source of truth" for United's operations data
• Build predictive models and analyze results for dissemination of insights to United leadership
• Prepare presentations for United leadership and external stakeholders
• Design meaningful metrics that indicate operational health and inform operational decisions
• Document the data landscape, maintain an inventory of reports

This position is offered on local terms and conditions.  Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or another quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, statistics, etc.)

• 6 months-2 Years experience in business intelligence, analytics, and/or data engineering

• Very strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information and data with attention to detail and accuracy
• Understanding of data structures, relationships, and efficient transformations
• Knowledge and application of data visualization best practices
• Strong with writing complex queries and procedures using both traditional and modern technologies/languages (i.e. Redshift, SQL server, Postgres, Python, Spark etc.)
• Working knowledge of BI reporting tools preferably Power BI to produce meaningful, elegant dashboards
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to learn what a business team does, then design a data/technology solution that connects business processes with quantifiable outcomes
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Disciplined professional with respect to time and tasks management to work effectively across multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously through appropriate prioritization
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview process required to meet job qualification
• Highly motivated, Professional attitude to adhere organization culture and policies is an essential function of the position

  What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

• Master's Degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research and/or MBA preferred
• Familiarity with various parts of the data ecosystem (acquisition, engineering, storage, management, analysis, visualization, and deployment) preferred
• Exposure to Databricks and similar applications
• Exposure to statistical and analytical methods preferred
• Experience with ASP.Net, JavaScript, D3, HTML, CSS / front-end development
