The Assistant Product Manager, Lending Capabilities is responsible for supporting the growth, profitability, and customer engagement of American Express' Lending portfolio across Australia and New Zealand.

The role focuses on developing and implementing lending capability product strategies, identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio performance, and delivering innovative lending products and features. Working closely with local and international stakeholders, the position plays a key role in driving digitisation, improving customer experiences, and ensuring lending products remain competitive within the market.

  • Support lending strategies and products that drive profitable credit card balance growth.
  • Develop business cases and strategies for margin-enhancing initiatives, including opportunity sizing, stakeholder alignment, and approval processes.
  • Lead and support the digitisation of lending initiatives through the development of new customer capabilities and enhanced customer journeys.
  • Partner with Marketing, Analytics, Product Management, Technology, Customer Service, and international teams to deliver lending initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the competitive position of lending products within the market.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, customer behaviour, and key business metrics through regular reporting and analysis.
  • Manage cross-functional projects, ensuring delivery against critical timelines and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement product enhancements that improve customer engagement, profitability, and portfolio growth.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on market trends, portfolio performance, and customer needs.
  • Support the design and launch of innovative lending products and features that deliver sustainable business growth.
  • Product management experience within Financial Services, preferably Credit Cards or BNPL.
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and strategic thinking capability.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business functions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of American Express consumer products and the competitive landscape is advantageous.
