Social Content & Design Intern

Employment type: Part-time internship

Term: Fall 2026

Reports to: Vice President of Content & Growth

Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per week

Location: Remote

About the role

Nerveli is seeking a creative and dependable Social Content & Design Intern to help develop engaging visual and short-form content for our digital channels.

This is a hands-on content-production role for a student who enjoys translating ideas into polished graphics, videos, and social media assets. The intern will work from campaign goals, content briefs, brand standards, and audience insights to create content using tools such as Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite.

The ideal candidate is visually curious, comfortable experimenting with current content formats, and eager to build a strong creative portfolio.

Compensation and academic credit: This is an unpaid educational internship. Students may be eligible to receive academic credit through their college or university. Credit is not guaranteed and must be approved and arranged with the student’s academic institution before the internship begins. Nerveli will reasonably assist with required documentation and evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Create branded graphics, carousels, stories, short-form videos, and other assets for social media.
  • Film and edit TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other vertical-video content.
  • Develop assets using Canva and, when appropriate, Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Adapt core creative concepts into platform-specific sizes and formats.
  • Assist with brainstorming concepts, hooks, scripts, captions, storyboards, and visual treatments.
  • Follow established brand guidelines while contributing fresh creative ideas.
  • Maintain organized creative files, templates, and asset libraries.
  • Help develop reusable templates that make content production faster and more consistent.
  • Incorporate feedback and complete revisions on schedule.
  • Monitor visual and short-form content trends relevant to our organization and audiences.
  • Work with platform performance analytics and metrics to apply performance insights to future creative work.
  • Deliver completed, approved assets for scheduling and publication.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in graphic design, communications, marketing, media production, advertising, or a related field.
  • Experience creating visual or video content for school, personal, volunteer, or professional projects.
  • Working knowledge of Canva.
  • Familiarity with short-form video platforms and their creative conventions.
  • Strong visual judgment and attention to detail.
  • Able to receive feedback, revise work, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable collaborating while also completing assigned production work independently.

Helpful, but not required

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar software.
  • Basic photography, videography, motion-graphics, or audio-editing skills.
  • Familiarity with accessibility practices such as readable text, captions, contrast, and alt-text considerations.
  • An existing portfolio or collection of creative samples.

What you will gain

  • Portfolio-ready social graphics and short-form video work.
  • Experience responding to real creative briefs and brand standards.
  • Exposure to the full content process, from concept and production through publication and performance review.
  • Constructive feedback and creative mentorship.
  • Experience using audience data to improve creative decisions.

Success in this role

By the end of the internship, the Social Content & Design Intern should be able to independently produce polished, on-brand assets from a creative brief, meet an agreed content-production schedule, and improve work based on feedback and performance insights.
