Automation Control Engineer
Design, develop, implement, and optimize automation solutions that improve employee safety, product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and cost performance. Support the commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of new and existing manufacturing equipment. Design, implement, and maintain industrial automation and control networks. Manage control system documentation, software revisions, and change control processes. Ensure system reliability and business continuity by following industry standards and engineering best practices. Develop the automation capabilities of maintenance and engineering teams by providing training and technical guidance to improve troubleshooting skills. Develop and support data acquisition and reporting systems that align with site and company objectives. Lead automation-focused capital and continuous improvement projects from planning through execution. Coordinate activities with engineering, maintenance, operations, vendors, and contractors to support automation initiatives. Partner with manufacturing leaders to improve automated systems and production processes. Develop and deliver training for maintenance and operations personnel. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, ergonomic standards, and quality requirements. Prioritize work based on production needs and business objectives. Perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 5+ years of industrial automation experience within a manufacturing environment. Extensive PLC programming experience is required. FactoryTalk Suite Logix Platform Allen-Bradley industrial networks Working knowledge of OPC-UA architecture and industrial communication protocols. Experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Hands-on electrical experience with industrial control panels and electrical circuits. Experience with robotic control systems, preferably FANUC. Working knowledge of SCADA systems. Experience with Beckhoff and Siemens automation platforms. Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs) and servo systems, preferably Allen-Bradley and Rexroth. Experience with Visual Basic and database applications is a plus. Understanding of industrial networking and computer systems. Lean Manufacturing experience preferred. Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required to support production.
