Software Engineer III – Mobile iOS
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain iOS features using Swift (and UIKit/SwiftUI), delivering high-quality user experiences across supported iPhone/iPad devices and iOS versions.
- Lead implementation for moderately complex initiatives (navigation flows, state management, offline/error handling) and contribute to technical design decisions.
Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
- Integrate with backend services (REST/GraphQL), implement secure authentication flows, and ensure safe handling of local storage and network communications.
- Build and maintain automated tests (unit and UI tests) and improve app stability and performance (crash reduction, responsiveness, battery/memory considerations).
Drive CI/CD improvements for iOS builds (build automation, lint/static checks, test automation, signing/provisioning, release workflows) and use JP Morgan Chase-approved AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude AI where approved) to accelerate refactoring, test generation, and documentation with rigorous validation.
Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities:
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Strong hands-on iOS development experience with Swift and iOS SDK, plus modern architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM/Clean Architecture).
- Experience building UI using UIKit and/or SwiftUI, including accessibility and responsive layout practices.
- Experience with networking, persistence (e.g., Keychain and local storage patterns), and secure coding practices for mobile.
- Experience implementing/improving CI/CD for iOS (automated builds, quality gates, signing/provisioning and release processes).
- Disciplined experience using AI coding assistants (Claude AI or equivalent where approved) with verification and secure usage practices.
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modularization (SPM/CocoaPods/Carthage as applicable), shared libraries, and scaling iOS codebases across teams.
- Experience with performance and stability tooling (Instruments, crash analytics, memory/leak debugging).
- Familiarity with mobile security best practices (OWASP MASVS awareness, secure networking, certificate pinning where applicable, secrets handling).
- Experience with release strategies (feature flags, phased rollouts) and operational readiness (runbooks, monitoring).
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving delivery metrics (cycle time, defect escape, app stability).
