WETS Deposition group at Lam India Global Hardware Technology (LIGHT) is hiring a Mechanical Lead Engineer for its New Product Development team.Role Summary
We are looking for a strong Mechanical Engineer to join the WETS New Product Development (NPD) team. This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, the ability to independently solve thermal and fluid dynamics problems, and experience with OEM fluid and pneumatic components and plastic materials.The engineer is expected to take end‑to‑end ownership of subsystem design from concept through qualification, proactively manage technical risks using FMEA and structured problem‑solving methods, and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Product Support and Supply Chain to ensure robust, production‑ready solutions.What you’ll do
Design and develop fluid and pneumatic mechanical subsystems for WETS NPD toolsApply engineering first principles to solve thermal and fluid dynamics problemsPerform OEM component selection eg: valves, regulators, fittings, tubing, and sensorsDesign components using plastic and polymer materials for wet and chemical environmentsLead or contribute to FMEA to identify and mitigate design risksDrive issue resolution using structured problem‑solving methods (5‑Why, Fishbone, Pareto)Collaborate with CFTs such as Product Support, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Systems teamsOwn subsystem delivery from concept through qualification and releaseSupport prototype build, testing, debugging, and qualification activitiesMaintain clear documentation of designs, calculations, risks, and decisionsPreferred qualifications
Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.Who we’re looking for
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; or equivalent experience.Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.Core Competencies
Strong foundation in fluid dynamics (compressible and incompressible flows)Ability to independently solve thermal and fluid flow problemsStrong grasp of engineering fundamentals and first principlesExperience with plastic materials and chemical‑compatible designsHands‑on experience with OEM fluid and pneumatic component selectionWorking knowledge of FMEA and reliability principlesProven ability to apply structured problem‑solving toolsStrong ownership mindset and accountability for resultsBehavioral Expectations
