Developing investment theses on attractive subsectors of food and CPG and translating those into a vibrant deal pipeline Venture Investing Build and maintain a proactive sourcing engine by engaging with founder and operator networks, developing banker and broker relationships, trade show coverage, investor co-investment dialogues, and direct outreach to companies of interest Lead full-cycle deal execution: Commercial, financial, and operational diligence; investment memo development; financial modeling and valuation work; term sheet negotiation; and coordination with legal counsel Track portfolio performance, surface emerging risks and opportunities, and recommend follow-on investments or exit paths as appropriate Support deal identification and target screening across categories of strategic interest Build M&A business cases, including financial modeling, synergy analysis, valuation, and risk assessments Evaluate and structure joint ventures, sweat equity arrangements, and other complex partnership constructs Coordinate with BU leadership to ensure partnership economics and strategic intent are aligned Own and drive multiple concurrent workstreams, balancing competing demands and timelines Develop and own perspectives on category dynamics, white spaces, emerging trends, and competitive activity in food and CPG; translate those perspectives into actionable investment theses and a forward-looking pipeline Become a trusted resource to corporate leadership for external market intelligence Manage analysts and MBA summer interns where applicable, including project staffing, coaching, and feedback Deal Judgment, Analytics, and Communication Sound commercial instincts and the rigor to form and defend an investment view under uncertainty, including the ability to pressure-test a model, a market, and a management team. Crisp written and verbal communication, with the ability to write a tight investment memo and present it credibly to a senior audience. Comfort owning the full deal lifecycle from first conversation through close, with the autonomy to drive workstreams forward independently. A demonstrated point of view on where the food and CPG space is going and what makes a business worth investing in, paired with the curiosity to develop deep category expertise across emerging channels, evolving consumer behavior, technology shifts, and competitive dynamics. The ability to build the frameworks, theses, and processes that turn diffuse market activity into a coherent pipeline. A team-oriented inclination that shares credit, develops junior talent, and earns trust across the organization. Takes responsibility for outcomes, sees deals through to close, and stays close to portfolio companies after the wire hits. Intellectually honest and willing to walk away from a deal when the thesis does not hold up (and willing to advocate hard when it does). Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred 7+ years of cumulative business experience, ideally including some combination of corporate development, venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or operating roles in food and CPG Demonstrated facility with financial modeling, accounting concepts, and valuation; comfort building deal models from a blank page Genuine and demonstrated interest in the food and CPG industry Willingness to travel 25-35% for trade shows, target company visits, portfolio company engagement, and internal meetings This role is based in Dallas, Texas, and is a full-time, in-office position
