Job Description

The Design Sculptor - Digital is responsible for developing high-quality digital surfaces that bring advanced design concepts to life. In this role, you will execute digital models across multiple programs, ensuring alignment with aesthetic targets, engineering requirements, and global modeling standards. You'll collaborate closely with Design, Engineering, and cross-functional partners to solve aesthetic and technical challenges while supporting surface development through key vehicle development milestones. This role also contributes to the advancement of digital modeling practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and the integration of new technologies and workflows into studio operations. 

What You'll Do 

  • Develop high-quality aesthetic digital surfaces that meet Design intent, engineering requirements, and GVDP quality standards. 

  • Execute digital models to program timelines while ensuring surface integrity, quality, and data readiness for release activities. 

  • Collaborate with Design and Engineering stakeholders to resolve aesthetic and technical challenges and support effective 3D solutions. 

  • Support surface releases that meet Design approval, production engineering requirements, and data release standards. 

  • Participate in peer reviews and surface assessments, providing constructive feedback that improves model quality and execution. 

  • Contribute to the development of digital sculpting workflows, modeling standards, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance studio capability. 

  • Reinforce studio data management standards and corporate systems, including Teamcenter, SharePoint, and other communication tools. 

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) 

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field; equivalent industry experience considered. 

  • 5+ years of digital modeling or sculpting experience in a design studio environment.  

  • Proficiency with digital sculpting tools such as Alias, VRED, HMD, or equivalent modeling software. 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate 2D sketches and design intent into refined 3D digital surfaces. 

  • Strong understanding of digital surface development with the ability to successfully integrate engineering and manufacturing requirements into approved design themes. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across Design, Engineering, and studio teams. 

  • Ability to meet GVDP requirements, adhere to global processes, and work effectively under compressed timelines.

  • Knowledge of design trends, new technologies, and advanced modeling methods.   

  • Experience contributing to workflow improvements, process enhancements, or implementation of new digital modeling methods. 

  • Knowledge of emerging digital design technologies, visualization workflows, and advanced modeling methods.
