About the Role 

As the Product Communications Specialist, you will play a key role in driving brand growth across Australia. This position is responsible for assisting in executing our product communications strategy across all media channels, while providing support to the Product Communications Manager, Corporate Communications Manager and Communications Director as needed. The ideal candidate will combine strategic focus, exceptional collaborative skills, and a commitment to excellence to deliver high-impact results.

This position reports directly to the Product Communications Manager and is based at our National Sales Company Office in Richmond, operating on a hybrid schedule with four days in the office. Candidates should have flexibility for occasional domestic/international travel and extended hours or weekend work during high-priority product announcements and media events.

  • Partner with the Product Communications Manager to execute new vehicle launch strategies and media introductions, with primary ownership of automotive, trade, and motoring influencer channels.
  • Serve as a key media contact to deepen relationships with local press and proactively build new media networks.
  • Direct external agencies and align with internal Marketing teams to build and execute high-impact consumer and lifestyle PR strategies.
  • Collaborate with global, International Market Groups (IMG), product development, and content production teams to ensure high standards and innovation across all product communications.
  • Manage product-related reporting, performance metrics, and information sharing with global communications partners.
  • Analyse competitive media coverage and market trends to drive proactive, data-driven PR tactics.
  • Partner with the Press Fleet Coordinator to ensure maximum press fleet utilization, logistics support, and resource efficiency.
  • Support the Corporate Communications Manager with general internal and external communication initiatives as required.
  • Provide seamless operational backup for the Product Communications Manager, Corporate Communications Manager, or Press Fleet Coordinator during absences.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in a related field, including Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism. 
  • Tertiary qualified with a degree in Public Relations / Communications or equivalent preferable but extensive PR or journalism experience will also be considered. 
  • Deep knowledge of automotive trends and technology, backed by an established network of media relationships and a proven ability to translate complex concepts into compelling consumer messaging. 
  • Proven capability in end-to-end communication strategy, exceptional written and verbal skills (including drafting/editing media releases), and confident group presentation delivery. 
  • Hands-on experience planning, executing, and evaluating end-to-end virtual and in-person events and product launches, with a focus on continuous improvement. 
  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and supplier/agency management skills, supported by solid administrative proficiency across the Office 365 suite.
