About Hometree

Join Hometree at the most exciting moment in our story. Founded in 2015, we've become one of the fastest-growing challengers in the UK home services market, spanning home cover that protects the essential systems in the home, renewable installations like solar, batteries and heat pumps, and the financing that makes them affordable. Together, we help homeowners look after their homes and move to greener, lower-carbon living.

We're now going through the biggest step change in our history. By acquiring OVO Energy's Home Services division, including the trusted CORGI HomePlan and HomeHeat brands, we're becoming one of the UK's leading home services groups, with fresh investment to fuel our next phase of growth. It's a genuine inflection point, and we're looking for people who want to help us build what comes next.

Key Achievements

πŸ† UK's third-largest home cover provider: our latest acquisition makes us the third-largest provider of home cover in the UK.

πŸ† 7 Acquisitions - We've expanded our operations by acquiring 6 key companies across financing (Hometree Finance - formerly Bewarm), Home Cover (Your Repair) and energy services (Geowarmth, The Little Green Energy Company, IMS and GreenGen). And we have most recently announced the acquisition of OVO Home Services and CORGI Homeplan (subject to FCA approval).

πŸ† 500k Homes Covered - We cover over 500 hundred thousand homes across the UK

πŸ† 550+ Employees - We have over 550 passionate employees transforming the industry across the Group, one home at a time

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Head of IT and Systems to own the day-to-day reliability, security, and scalability of Hometree's internal technology. This isn't a purely strategic or people-management role today β€” you'll be in the tools yourself, fixing issues, configuring devices, and leading complex projects end-to-end, while also setting the direction for how IT operates as we scale. As the team grows, you'll be expected to build the case for and lead additional IT hires.

You'll be the go-to person for everything from device management and identity/access across Mac and Windows estates, to running significant infrastructure projects like Google Workspace migrations, to managing our external MSP and vendor relationships to make sure they're delivering the standard of service the business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-user device management across a mixed Mac and Windows estate β€” configuring and maintaining MDM platforms (e.g. Kandji, Jamf, or similar for macOS) and Windows-side tooling (Entra ID, Intune/MDM, Active Directory) to keep devices secure, compliant, and easy to onboard/offboard.

  • Lead complex systems projects hands-on, including planning and executing Google Workspace (GSuite) migrations, restructuring, or consolidations, with minimal disruption to the business.

  • Manage relationships with MSP and technology partners, holding them to account on SLAs, service quality, and cost, and stepping in directly where needed rather than purely delegating.

  • Administer core business systems β€” identity and access management, SaaS application administration, security tooling, and general systems administration across the company's tech stack.

  • Own IT security fundamentals β€” device compliance, access controls, conditional access policies, patching, and basic security hygiene across the estate.

  • Work alongside the Head of Information Security on the company's security and compliance posture, including frameworks such as Cyber Essentials (and, longer-term, ISO 27001), data governance and GDPR-related access controls, and incident response.

  • Own business continuity and disaster recovery planning for core systems β€” backup strategy, recovery processes, and minimising single points of failure as we scale.

  • Manage onboarding/offboarding processes for a growing headcount, ensuring new starters have working, secure, correctly provisioned kit and access from day one.

  • Build scalable IT processes and documentation as the company grows, moving the function from reactive support to proactive, well-run infrastructure.

  • Provide senior escalation point for IT issues, working closely with the wider business to understand needs and prioritise accordingly.

  • Own the IT budget, procurement, and vendor contracts β€” forecasting spend, negotiating terms, and evaluating cost vs. value across software, hardware, and services.

  • Define and report on IT KPIs/SLAs (e.g. device compliance rate, ticket resolution time, onboarding turnaround) to give the business visibility into how the function is performing.

  • Own office IT and network infrastructure β€” WiFi, meeting room AV, and technology setup for new or growing office locations.

What we’re looking for:

  • Apple/Mac Device Management: Proven experience managing Apple/Mac device fleets using an MDM (Kandji, Jamf, Mosyle, or similar).

  • Windows & Microsoft Ecosystem: Strong hands-on experience with the Windows/Microsoft ecosystem, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune or other MDM solutions, and traditional Active Directory.

  • Google Workspace Administration: Direct experience leading a Google Workspace (GSuite) migration, restructure, or major administrative project.

  • MSP & Vendor Management: Experience managing MSP or outsourced IT support relationships, including holding partners accountable to SLAs.

  • Systems Administration: Solid general systems administration background, including identity and access management, SaaS application administration, networking fundamentals, and endpoint security.

  • Hands-on Technical Support: Comfortable being genuinely hands-on β€” this role is as much "in the weeds" as it is strategic, particularly within a lean, fast-moving team.

  • Scale-up Experience: Experience working in a scaling business where processes are still being built and priorities can shift quickly.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders across the business.

  • Ownership & Problem Solving: A pragmatic, ownership-driven mindset β€” you spot what needs fixing and get on with fixing it.

  • Security & Compliance: Working knowledge of security and compliance frameworks relevant to a UK business (e.g. Cyber Essentials, GDPR, and data governance principles), with experience preparing for or maintaining accreditation.

  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Experience developing and managing backup strategies and disaster recovery plans for core business systems.

Extra Credit:

  • ISO 27001: Experience with ISO 27001 or exposure to formal information security management systems.

  • Professional Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g. Jamf Certified, Microsoft Certified, ITIL) are beneficial but not required.

  • Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting or automation (e.g. Shell, PowerShell, or similar) to reduce manual administrative work.

  • Regulated or High-Growth Environment: Experience working within a regulated industry or a high-growth scale-up environment.

  • Multi-Site IT Management: Experience managing IT across multiple or growing office locations.

Our Recruitment Process:

Please amend the below to the interview process you have for this role.

  • Initial Call: Start with an introductory call with our Junior Talent Acquisition Specialist to discuss the role and your potential fit. (30 mins)

  • Skills-Based Interview: Engage in a detailed discussion about your past experiences with our CTO (1 hr)

  • Values Interview: A Values Based Interview with Head of Finance and Director of People & Culture (45 mins)

Perks of the job

We have an ever expanding list of benefits that currently includes:

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday

  • Hybrid working - Spend 2 days per week with your team in our collaborative London office (it’s dog friendly too!)

  • Free boiler & home emergency cover with Hometree plus 40% discount for friends & family

  • Discounted gym membership across over 100 UK gyms (independent and chains) and free fitness, wellness and nutrition apps.

  • Β£300 Home office allowance

  • Support for your mental health and wellbeing via Oliva

  • Menopause support from Stella, including friends & family access

  • Cycle to work scheme

  • Regular team socials including Summer and Winter parties.
