Honeywell Software Centre develops state-of-the-art networked building automation and digital video surveillance solutions on Microsoft platforms. Recognised for innovative, high-quality software, we leverage the latest development tools and methodologies while maintaining a strong commitment to quality systems.

We are seeking a Technical Product Owner to support the delivery of next-generation Building Automation Systems. In this role, you will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quality Assurance, and cross-functional stakeholders to define, prioritise, and deliver software capabilities that make buildings smarter, safer, more autonomous, and more sustainable.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Own, maintain, and priorities the product backlog, ensuring alignment with product strategy, customer needs, business priorities, and technical dependencies.
  • Translate business, customer, and technical requirements into clear, actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Lead Agile delivery activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and ongoing release management.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Architecture, QA, and UX teams to drive successful product outcomes.
  • Define MVPs and break down complex initiatives into deliverable increments that provide measurable business value.
  • Ensure backlog readiness, delivery quality, and successful validation of completed features prior to release.
  • Provide expertise in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC controls, smart building technologies, and enterprise building platforms.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on software architecture, integrations, cloud connectivity, edge devices, telemetry, and data acquisition requirements.
  • Support integration of building systems through protocols and technologies including BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, APIs, and connected control platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of smarter, safer, and more sustainable buildings through innovation in IoT, energy optimisation, analytics, and smart building solutions.

 

 

 

Key Experience & Capabilities:

 

Essential

  • 3-5 years' experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, or similar role within Agile software delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Industrial IoT, HVAC controls, energy management systems, or smart building technologies.
  • Strong understanding of building automation protocols and integrations, including BACnet/IP, Modbus, MQTT, APIs, and connected control platforms.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence, including backlog management, sprint planning, refinement, user story development, and release tracking
  • Domain: Building Automation, Building Management Systems, IoT-enabled controls, HVAC, energy management, or smart buildings

 

Desirable 

  • Familiarity with Industrial IoT architecture, OT environments, cybersecurity principles, and secure connectivity solutions.
  • Understanding of HVAC optimisation, energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives, carbon reduction, and energy performance analytics.
  • Experience integrating building systems, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and modern analytics solutions.
  • Exposure to data analytics, AI/ML concepts, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and smart building technologies.
  • Knowledge of legacy and modern building system integrations across complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize technical requirements
  • Drive the development of technical specifications and ensure alignment with overall product strategy
  • Provide technical guidance to the development team throughout the product lifecycle
  • Work closely with the Technical Product Owner Manager to ensure timely and successful product delivery
  • Actively participate in product planning and roadmap discussions

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 2+ years of experience in a Technical Product Owner management role or similar technical leadership position
  • Mastery understanding of software development methodologies and processes
  • Experience working in agile development environments and familiarity with agile principles
  • Proven track record of successfully managing technical teams

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or another related field.
  • Certifications in product management or agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving capability
