We're hiring a Director of Data Engineering to lead our Marketing Technology Data Engineering team. You'll take over ownership of a strong, established senior engineering bench and set technical direction for the data platforms powering marketing analytics, attribution, and activation across the business. This is a director-level role reporting into the Director, Marketing Technology and Engineering, with direct people management of senior data engineers.
What You'll Do:
Technical Leadership
• Architect, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
• Design and optimize data models across warehouse and lakehouse environments
• Partner with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, code review standards, and documentation norms
• Evaluate and champion new data technologies and frameworks
People Management
• Directly manage 3+ Senior Data Engineers, providing mentorship, coaching, and career development support
• Set clear goals, conduct regular 1:1s, and lead performance reviews
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
• Partner with recruiting to grow the team as needed
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with stakeholders across Marketing Technology, Analytics, and Engineering to align on priorities
• Represent Data Engineering in planning, budget, and roadmap discussions with senior stakeholders
• Own the DE support intake process (e.g., MOpsBot-routed requests) and ensure SLAs are met
• Translate business requirements from Marketing, Analytics, and Data Science stakeholders into technical execution plans
What We're Looking For:
• 12+ years of data engineering experience, including significant time in cloud data warehouse/lakehouse architecture
• 6+ years of people management experience, ideally managing senior/staff-level engineers
• Deep proficiency in SQL and Python; strong grasp of dimensional modeling and warehouse design
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and lakehouse table formats (Iceberg or similar); pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, or similar)
• Experience integrating third-party marketing/ad platform data (e.g., Demandbase, Meta, Google Ads, LinkedIn) a strong plus
• Track record setting engineering standards and governance policy (access control, separation of duties) across teams
• Excellent stakeholder communication — comfortable driving alignment with both engineering and non-technical marketing leadership
• Based in or willing to relocate to Hyderabad
Nice to Have:
• Experience in Marketing Technology or CRM data ecosystems
• Familiarity with Salesforce platform and Marketing Cloud data structures
• Experience working in a globally distributed team
