Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for accurately delivering prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients, ensuring clinical precision and patient comfort.Every day, you will meticulously position patients, operate sophisticated radiation equipment, perform daily quality assurance checks, and carefully monitor patients throughout treatment, providing support and clear communication.To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and compassionate patient care, crucial for safe and effective cancer treatment. Responsibilities: Responsible for technical knowledge of Radiation Oncology.Responsible for upkeeping all stock and par levels in the Radiation Oncology.Delivers the prescribed planned course of Radiation Therapy accurately with minimal supervision. Checks prescription, diagnosis, and patient identification. Reinforces the Radiation Oncologist's advice to the patient regarding reactions to treatment and their care.Prepares room and equipment for patient according to prescription regarding immobilization devices, shield size, treatment distance, lead protection devices, etc. Transfers patient safely to treatment couch by physically assisting them, giving special care to catheters, intravenous drips, etc. Checks daily treatment, monitors unit setting, and delivers prescribed dose.Observes patient for unusual reactions and events. Reports reactions and events to the Department Supervisor. Assists patient and reports reactions and events to Radiation Oncologist and/or Manager. This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Job Requirements
Required: Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapy experience preferred.Recent graduate of a JRCERT- approved program in Radiation Therapy. Accepted preferred.Completion of an ACR-approved program in Radiation TherapyRegistered Radiation Therapy TechnologistRegistered Technologist Radiography ARRT CRT (state) required. Fluoroscopy certification required.AHA BLS certification required.Fire Safety card required. (must obtain within 90 days of start date)
