About the Role
This role is central to delivering an outstanding claims experience across Personal Lines. You’ll be responsible for handling home, contents, and motor claims with professionalism, accuracy, and care, ensuring prompt communication with brokers and customers while managing investigations, reserving, and claim adjustments to a high standard.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage claims in line with policy terms, relevant legislation, legal principles, and Chubb’s Best Practice and Claim Handling Guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with the General Insurance Code of Practice, the Insurance Contracts Act, and Chubb’s AFSL obligations.
  • Assess damage and quantum to establish and maintain accurate reserves.
  • Build strong relationships with brokers, customers, and service providers, including builders and restoration companies.
  • Investigate claims thoroughly, including potential fraud, and ensure all supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Identify subrogation opportunities and refer them to the Subrogation team.
  • Manage workload, diary activity, and file progression to ensure timely resolution.
  • Handle claims end to end, including those requiring technical assistance or escalation beyond delegated authority.
  • Report significant claims internally, including large loss matters.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the claims system.
  • Use sound judgement to determine claim outcomes, including coverage, loss, damage, and applicable limits.
  • Negotiate settlements where appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, brokers, insureds, counsel, third parties, and legal representatives.
  • Manage the use, output, and cost of external vendors.
  • Support the Personal Lines Claims Team Lead with any other duties as required.
     

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualification (Degree preferred).
  • Relevant Industry Qualifications (ANZIIF) or studying towards.
  • 2+ years experience in handling Personal Lines Claims or similar roles.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent Customer Service Ethic.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word/ Excel and ability to construct claim reports as required.
  • Ability to manage self and time effectively.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
