Are you ready to join us?This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes.The Principal, Manufacturing Science & Technology Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for leading technical projects and serving as the process and product subject matter expert throughout the product lifecycle. This role drives innovation, ensures regulatory compliance, and continuously improves manufacturing performance through strong technical leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.Specifics Include:Manage individual technical and cross-functional projects, applying specialized knowledge to achieve objectives and drive innovationMaintain end-to-end (“door to door”) oversight of assigned product(s) and associated manufacturing processes across the entire commercial lifecycle, from development through commercialization and sustainmentServe as the primary technical contact with R&D as the plant Sustaining Scientist, ensuring alignment and knowledge continuityDevelop, implement, and evaluate new production materials, equipment, and technologies prior to mass productionConduct manufacturing research and development to resolve production cost, efficiency, and quality challenges, including technical feasibility assessmentsMaintain deep knowledge of product history, process performance, and validation state; ensure products remain in a continuous state of validationEvaluate project capacity to support process design and development, and establish standardized manufacturing proceduresMonitor, analyze, and control critical process variables; identify issues and initiate appropriate corrective and preventive actionsDrive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize utilization of labor, raw materials, and equipmentEvaluate production processes to reduce overall costs and define/maintain product quality standardsOversee implementation of systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards, including GxP requirementsCritically review operations to improve regulatory compliance, aseptic techniques, product quality, and overall productivityArrange equipment, tools, and resources to support efficient production operationsSelect and collaborate with vendors to define product specifications and ensure timely, cost-effective deliveryLiaise with Global Product Steward and cross-functional partners (R&D, Quality, Commercial, Operations) to enhance process capability and maintain product knowledgeDetermine and communicate priorities and timelines across potentially competing initiativesMake data-driven operational decisions that directly impact project performance, compliance, and innovation outcomesDevelop and align team and project goals with departmental and organizational objectives; ensure clear and consistent communication of prioritiesMaintain awareness of industry advancements and state-of-the-art technologies; recommend and implement improvements as appropriatePrepare technical analyses and provide insights to site leadership to support strategic decision-makingEnsure...
