The Senior Manager, Engineering – Web & Connected TV will lead multiple engineering initiatives and a team of software engineers responsible for delivering the web and Connected TV streaming experiences that power millions of viewers across the U.S., Mexico, Spain, and Latin America.

This leader will oversee engineering execution across browser-based streaming platforms including Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Hisense Vidaa, Vizio SmartCast, and Comcast/Firebolt while helping shape the technical roadmap, engineering practices, and platform evolution for one of ViX's most critical customer experiences.

Working closely with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, Data, Ads, Subscription, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering, the Senior Manager will drive technical execution, engineering quality, operational excellence, and scalable software delivery while ensuring engineering investments align with broader business priorities.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining people leadership, technical strategy, software architecture, delivery oversight, and cross-functional influence. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable coaching engineers, solving complex technical challenges, driving execution across multiple initiatives, and influencing engineering direction across the organization.

ABOUT YOU:

You are an experienced engineering leader with a passion for building world-class OTT streaming platforms and Connected TV experiences. You possess deep technical expertise across modern web technologies, streaming architectures, and consumer-facing applications while demonstrating the ability to lead teams through complex technical initiatives.

You enjoy developing engineers, establishing engineering best practices, improving software delivery processes, and partnering with cross-functional leaders to solve large-scale business challenges. You balance technical depth with organizational leadership, enabling multiple teams to execute efficiently while continuously improving platform reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.

YOUR DAY-DAY: (Responsibilities)

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of software engineers responsible for Web and Connected TV streaming applications.
  • Own engineering execution across multiple concurrent initiatives while balancing roadmap commitments, platform investments, and operational priorities.
  • Partner with Product, Design, QA, Backend, Ads, Subscription, Native App, Data, and SRE teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality streaming experiences.
  • Establish engineering best practices that improve software quality, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance while partnering with Directors and Principal Engineers on long-term platform strategy.
  • Drive engineering planning, capacity management, sprint execution, and delivery forecasting.
  • Lead technical design reviews and architectural discussions for complex platform initiatives.
  • Champion performance optimization across Web and Connected TV platforms.
  • Drive improvements in application observability using Conviva, New Relic, Segment, Braze, Kochava, AppsFlyer, and related tools.
  • Lead production incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop engineers and emerging technical leaders through regular feedback, career planning, and performance management.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview, and onboard top engineering talent.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, operational excellence, and engineering accountability.
  • Drive platform modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, and adoption of modern engineering practices.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-assisted software development tools that improve engineering productivity and software quality.
  • Influence engineering priorities through data-driven decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.

YOU HAVE: (Qualifications, Experience)

  • 8+ years of experience building large-scale production web applications and consumer-facing digital products.
  • 4+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience managing software engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading multiple complex engineering initiatives from planning through production.
  • Experience managing software engineers within Agile software development environments.
  • Experience delivering OTT, streaming, Connected TV, Smart TV, or consumer-facing applications at scale.
  • Strong expertise with React, Next.js, TypeScript, SSR/RSC, App Router, GraphQL, and modern frontend architecture.
  • Experience with monorepo architectures including Turborepo or Nx.
  • Strong understanding of scalable software architecture, distributed systems, and frontend performance optimization.
  • Experience with video playback technologies including Bitmovin, Shaka, hls.js, dash.js, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of DRM, SSAI, CSAI, live streaming, VOD playback, and video analytics.
  • Experience leading production support, incident response, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

Strongly Preferred:

  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Experience leading engineering teams supporting platforms with millions of users.
  • Experience contributing to technical roadmap planning and engineering strategy.
  • Experience driving platform modernization or large-scale technology migrations.
  • Experience managing cross-functional technical dependencies across multiple engineering organizations.
  • Experience building engineering processes that improve delivery predictability and operational excellence.
  • Experience implementing AI-assisted engineering workflows at organizational scale.
  • Prior experience within streaming, media, sports, or entertainment organizations.
  • Experience with Connected TV UX patterns including remote-control navigation and 10-foot UI principles.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL Federation and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architectures.
  • Experience with A/B testing, feature flagging, and progressive delivery strategies.
  • Experience supporting subscription, billing, and entitlement platforms.
