Job Description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Plant 3D Process (P&ID) Designer to develop, maintain, and manage Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and process design deliverables using Autodesk Plant 3D. The candidate will work closely with Process Engineers, Piping Designers, Instrumentation Engineers, and other multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for Industrial Plants, Minerals & Metals facilities, Conventional and Renewable Power projects, and Nuclear facilities.
The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of process engineering design principles, intelligent P&ID development, engineering standards, and multidisciplinary plant design workflows.
Your role
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain intelligent P&IDs using Autodesk Plant 3D in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
- Create and update process flow diagrams (PFDs), utility flow diagrams (UFDs), and P&IDs for various industrial projects.
- Generate P&ID based on PFD and markups provided by Process discipline.
- Ensure P&IDs comply with applicable industry codes, client specifications, and engineering standards.
- Perform consistency checks between P&IDs, process documents, line lists, equipment data sheets, and piping models.
- Generate and manage Plant 3D project databases, tagging systems, line lists, equipment lists, and instrumentation data.
- Coordinate with Process, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Civil disciplines for design integration.
- Maintain consistent CAD standards, design methodologies and practices.
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of project deliverables according to project schedules.
- Produce documentation suitable for audits.
About you
Qualifications
- Degree / Diploma or ITI in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Piping Design, or related discipline.
Experience
- 5-8 years of experience in Process Design and P&ID development for Industrial Plants, Minerals & Metals, Conventional & Renewable Power, and Nuclear Facility projects.
- Hands-on experience in Autodesk Plant 3D (P&ID) for creation, modification and maintenance of intelligent P&IDs.
- Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects involving Process, Piping, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil disciplines.
- Experience with SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID), AVEVA P&ID, or OpenPlant P&ID will be considered a strong advantage.
Technical Competencies
P&ID and Plant Design Software –
- Autodesk Plant 3D (P&ID) - Mandatory
- AutoCAD - Mandatory
- SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID), AVEVA P&ID, and/or Bentley OpenPlant P&ID - Preferred
- Autodesk Navisworks - Preferred
- Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360 – Preferred
Process Design Competencies -
- Preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs)
- Equipment, line, valve, and instrument tagging
- Line list and equipment list generation.
- Instrumentation and Control Philosophy.
