Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, we are looking for a ServiceDesk Engineer (L3/L4 Support) – Industrial Automation to join our Industrial Automation Digital Organization. You will provide advanced technical support for mission-critical industrial automation solutions, serving as the escalation point for complex issues related to Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, industrial software, and system integrations.
Working closely with Product Engineering, R&D, Architecture, Quality Engineering, and global Customer Support teams, you will diagnose complex technical issues, drive root cause analysis, contribute to product improvements, and ensure exceptional customer experience through timely and effective issue resolution.
This role is contributing to the Process Automation – Digital Customer Support & Engineering Services organization in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for
- Provide expert-level L3/L4 technical support for industrial automation platforms by diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to DCS, PLCs, industrial software, system integrations, and process automation solutions, ensuring timely resolution and high customer satisfaction.
- Perform detailed troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions by analyzing logs, system diagnostics, software behavior, and replication environments while supporting product quality improvements and engineering excellence.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, R&D, Architecture, Quality Engineering, and global Customer Support teams to validate fixes, support product releases, manage technical escalations, and communicate effective resolution plans to customers.
- Drive continuous improvement by maintaining technical documentation, developing knowledge articles, mentoring L1/L2 support engineers, ensuring compliance with ABB engineering and cybersecurity standards, and providing customer feedback to enhance future product development.
Qualifications for the Role
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control, Automation, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in Industrial Automation, Technical Support, Product Support, Service Engineering, Commissioning, or related customer support roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, industrial control strategies, alarms, interlocks, sequencing, and process automation systems, with knowledge of ABB System 800xA considered a strong advantage.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting complex software, hardware, configuration, networking, and system integration issues, along with experience in customer incident management, technical escalations, and root cause analysis.
- Good understanding of Oil & Gas industrial processes, automation systems, engineering documentation, knowledge management, and software quality best practices.
- Experience collaborating with global cross-functional teams, including Product Engineering, R&D, Quality Engineering, and Customer Support, within Agile or structured engineering environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills with a customer-first mindset and a commitment to continuous learning and operational excellence.
