Position Summary
Fairwinds Technologies is seeking an experienced Curriculum Developer to support a major airborne modernization program involving advanced avionics, military communications, mission computing, and ground support systems.
The selected candidate will develop and deliver technical training and courseware for aircrew, maintenance personnel, software support teams, and operational users. Working closely with engineers, SMEs, and government stakeholders, the Curriculum Developer will translate complex technical requirements into effective instructor-led and hands-on training solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain comprehensive training curricula supporting aircraft and ground system upgrades.
Create Familiarization (FAM) and Type I training programs for flight crews, mission crews, maintenance personnel, software maintenance personnel, and ground support personnel.
Design instructor-led, hands-on, and blended-learning training solutions.
Develop learning objectives, lesson plans, student guides, instructor guides, presentations, practical exercises, and assessments.
Ensure courseware accurately reflects system functionality, operational procedures, maintenance requirements, and configuration baselines.
Conduct courseware reviews at established program milestones and incorporate stakeholder feedback into final training products.
Translate avionics engineering documentation into effective learning materials.
Develop training for UHF/VHF/HF communications systems, ARC-210 radios SATURN communications capabilities, secure voice and cryptographic systems, mission computing interfaces, ground support systems, installation and checkout procedures, and software support and mission planning tools.
Develop and maintain the Training System Implementation Plan (TSIP).
Identify target audiences, prerequisites, training requirements, resource needs, and delivery methods.
Coordinate training schedules and readiness activities with government and contractor stakeholders.
Conduct training needs analyses and training impact assessments.
Support program reviews and customer briefings as required.
Collaborate with technical writers and engineering teams to ensure alignment between training products and technical orders (TOs).
Support Technical Order reviews, certification, verification, and updates.
Ensure all courseware remains synchronized with technical manuals, maintenance documentation, and software releases.
Deliver classroom and practical instruction when required.
Facilitate training workshops and train-the-trainer sessions.
Conduct course evaluations and analyze performance metrics.
Implement continuous improvement processes for training effectiveness and operational readiness.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Aviation Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Technical Communications, or a related technical discipline.
Equivalent military and industry experience may be substituted.
Experience
9+ years of curriculum development experience.
5+ years supporting military aviation, avionics, or aerospace programs.
Experience developing technical training for aircraft systems, communications systems, or mission systems.
Experience developing maintenance and operator training.
Experience working with engineering drawings, technical data packages, system specifications, and technical manuals.
Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, Navy, Army, or Foreign Military Sales programs.
Experience developing instructor-led and hands-on training solutions.
Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and customer relationship management skills.
Experience with AWACS, ISR, C2, airborne communications, or large aircraft mission systems.

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location and experience. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time, exempt position.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
Must be eligible to work in the US. Must hold active DoD Secret Clearance.
