The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
## Your Responsibilities
As a DSM Part-Time Student for JD Intelligent Solutions Group located in Ames, IA, you will work with design engineers, embedded engineers, and control engineers to tackle some of the most challenging problems at John Deere. You will use simulation to architect, optimize and develop the very best design possible for our customers. If you are interested in a challenging role that will provide you with an opportunity to directly work on the products that feed the world this would be a position for you. The work location will primarily be in Ames, IA but will collaborate with platform teams from various locations and product lines (such as Crop Harvesting, Crop Care, Tractors, and Intelligent Solutions Group).
• Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
• Propose or evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance.
• Develop dynamic performance specifications using simulation. (MATLAB, Simscape, Simulink)
• Apply technical knowledge to identify and resolve design weaknesses and issues
• Assess lab and field event data for impact on product reliability
• Contribute to enterprise-wide activities and strategies related to DSM & analysis

## What Skills You Need
• Ideally, pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer/Software, Industrial, or Agricultural Engineering, others may apply.
• Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university.
• Graduation date of May 2028 or later.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or above.
• 10 - 20 hours/week during the academic year.
• 30 - 40 hours/week during the summer.
• Strong understanding and intuition for physics and dynamics
• Effective communication skills both oral and written.
• Strong problem-solving skills and inquisitive nature for resolving complex problems
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Ames, IA on a regular basis
## What Makes You Stand Out
• Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture or construction equipment.
• Experience in product engineering (product design, product testing, software testing).
• 3D modeling experience (Creo preferred).
• Programming experience (MATLAB, C++, Python, Visual Basic, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
• Model Based Software Development Experience (Simulink, Simscape, LabVIEW, Amesim)
• Data analytics experience (Python, R, SQL).
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, or Power BI.
• Leadership experience

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
