Overview
The Media Planner serves as the day-to-day steward of media planning and execution for an assigned brand. This role is responsible for supporting the development of media strategies, managing campaign execution, and ensuring accurate delivery across channels, while building a strong understanding of the client’s business and target audiences.
The Planner will contribute to media recommendations and help translate client objectives into effective, insight-driven digital media plans, working closely with the Supervisor and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the team with budget management and billing.
- Building and maintaining flowcharts, and submitting them to internal teams and clients.
- Supporting day-to-day project management, including meeting facilitation and coordination, capturing meeting notes, and sharing recaps with internal teams and clients.
- Developing timelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on deliverables, and ensuring all teams stay on track to meet deadlines.
- Updating and maintaining status sheets.
- Contributing to strategy/planning research and client presentations, including audience insights, media trends, and competitive analysis.
Qualifications
- Foundational understanding of media planning, with a strong curiosity and drive to grow into a media subject matter expert
- High attention to detail, particularly in managing data, budgets, and ensuring accuracy across deliverables
- Proactive, highly organized, and able to manage multiple workstreams across cross-functional teams while keeping timelines on track
- Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate insights and recommendations
- Foundational knowledge across channels and platforms, including Digital, Programmatic, Social, and Local (Radio, OOH, etc)
- Experience with budget tracking and planning tools (e.g., Guidelines, MediaRadar, Pathmatics, MRI-Simmons/Catalyst)
- Experience developing and building PowerPoint presentations
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)
- 1–2 years of media planning experience
- Strong understanding of digital media fundamentals (reach, frequency, audience targeting basics)
- Familiarity with media tools (e.g., MediaTools/Prisma, MRI, ComScore, or similar platforms)
- Proficiency in Excel and strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to contribute to presentations
- Highly organized, collaborative, and solution-oriented
