Lead Software Engineer (C#/.NET and AI-Centric Engineering Focus)
Overview
Lead Software Engineer
C#/.NET & AI-Enabled Enterprise Platforms
📍 Location: Kolkata or Hyderabad 🏢 Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer with strong C#/.NET expertise and a growing interest in applied AI for enterprise software modernization. In this role, you'll build secure, reliable backend services and contribute to AI-enabled capabilities that improve automation, developer productivity, and product intelligence across Hyland's enterprise platforms.
You'll work closely with customers, Professional Services, Support, Cloud Operations, and Engineering teams to understand customer pain points, investigate complex technical challenges, develop solutions and utilities, and contribute to the product codebase where appropriate. You'll be part of a collaborative engineering team — writing production-quality C#/.NET code, participating in architecture and design discussions, mentoring other engineers, and leveraging AI-assisted development responsibly. Exposure to C++, Python, or Java is beneficial for integration, interoperability, and modernization initiatives, but the primary expectation is strong C#/.NET engineering expertise with the ability to work across a diverse technology ecosystem.
Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise software components using modern C#/.NET, with a focus on performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Partner with customers, Services, Support, and Cloud teams to analyze complex business and technical challenges and deliver effective, scalable software solutions.
- Contribute to AI-assisted development practices using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude — while maintaining engineering excellence through peer reviews, automated testing, and secure development practices.
- Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and debugging sessions, applying strong software engineering principles, object-oriented design, and architectural best practices.
- Troubleshoot moderate to highly complex production issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and improve system reliability in cloud and containerized environments; leverage secondary languages such as C++, Python, or Java where needed for interoperability, automation, migration initiatives, or integration with existing enterprise systems.
- Mentor and guide engineers by promoting engineering best practices, technical excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement across the team.
Technology Tools
Primary Language – Modern C#/.NET
- .NET 6/7/8+, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, LINQ
- Asynchronous Programming, Dependency Injection
- Performance Optimization & Profiling, Secure Coding Practices
Secondary Exposure – C++
- Modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20)
- Performance-Sensitive Components, Native Integrations & Interoperability
- Legacy Product Support & Modernization Initiatives
AI Tools
- GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, LLM APIs
- Prompt Engineering Fundamentals & AI-Assisted Development Workflows
Additional Technologies
- REST APIs, SQL & NoSQL Databases
- Docker & Kubernetes
- Git, GitHub & Azure DevOps
- AWS or Azure Cloud Services
- CI/CD Pipelines & Automated Testing Frameworks
Role Essentials
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years of hands-on C#/.NET development experience building enterprise-grade software solutions.
- Strong expertise in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, distributed systems, API development, and backend service architectures, with proven experience building and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, design patterns, multithreading, asynchronous programming, debugging, and performance optimization with a focus on maintainable and secure design.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex customer-reported and production issues in distributed and cloud-based environments; exposure to AI-assisted development practices, including responsible use and validation of AI-generated code.
- Experience collaborating with customers, support, cloud operations, and cross-functional engineering teams to drive product improvements and resolve critical technical challenges.
What We'd Like to See
- Exposure to LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG architectures, vector databases, AI-powered search, and intelligent automation solutions within enterprise software environments.
- Experience with Kafka, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies in distributed enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience using GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or equivalent AI-assisted development tools with strong review and validation discipline.
- Strong expertise in performance engineering, scalability analysis, and system optimization, with a proven ability to resolve time-critical, complex production issues.
- Experience working with C++ codebases, native integrations, or modernization efforts involving legacy enterprise applications.
