The Research Specialist II compiles and reviews data and metadata and computes projections and performs analysis and tests.

Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.   

Location/Schedule: Bryan, TX/Part-Time; May have to work on weekends and/or after normal hours.

Responsibilities:
Research:

  • Compiles and reviews data and metadata.

  • Collects samples and measurements for experiments.

  • Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.

  • Computes projections.

  • Performs analysis and tests.

  • Makes and records observations and scientific measurements.

  • Assists in auditing protocols.

 

Research Publications:

  • Utilizes summarized results in scientific and/or clientele-oriented publications.

  • Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies and maintains financial accounts related to research projects.

Training:

  • Trains undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

  • Develops and maintains training materials for external users.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.  

Required Licenses and Certifications: 

  • May vary with research area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High level experience in confocal imaging and designing experiments for high-throughput screening and other fluorophore analysis 

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field

  • Ability to use Elements software and/or coding to design new analysis recipe.

  • Experience in developing imaging methods for high-throughout screening.

  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with imaging instrumentation and data capture and analysis.

  • Ability to add new technologies to address the research question.

  • Experience with imaging with the ability to design sophisticated FRET, 3D multimodal analysis using variety of software.
     

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.

  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software.

  • Attention to detail.
